Switch 2 Could Fix Two Of The Biggest Issues On The Nintendo eShop

Upon the release of Switch 2 in June, veteran users may notice two significant enhancements in the Nintendo eShop. Nintendo intends to rectify criticisms about its digital marketplace, which has been frequently criticized for being sluggish and difficult to navigate, as well as for hosting numerous low-cost, questionable games that employ deceptive tactics to draw attention. During a developers’ meeting, Nintendo disclosed that the eShop will undergo performance improvements and that a novel feature will be implemented to facilitate easier game discovery for users.

Takuhiro Dohta, Nintendo’s senior director for entertainment planning and development, shared in a Nintendo post that the Switch 2 hardware will enhance the browsing experience on the eShop. He stated that due to the system’s increased performance capabilities, the Nintendo eShop on the Switch 2 runs smoothly, even when displaying numerous games at once. Dohta believes that discovering the game you wish to play is an essential aspect of the overall gaming system experience.

To make it simpler for users to explore, Kouichi Kawamoto, the entertainment planner and developer, mentioned the “Game Finds for You” feature which enables viewers to preview game screenshots and videos directly. He believes this will help players quickly discover something engaging without having to exhaustively search through every corner of Nintendo eShop.

In the Nintendo video demonstration, we get a glimpse into how the new feature operates. Essentially, for eShop users, a carousel of games will be displayed based on various categories. For instance, a game that aligns with your preferences from your wishlist might be highlighted, or if you’re playing with a friend, that game could appear. Additionally, popular, trending titles might also show up in this slideshow.

As a gamer, I’m super excited to share that the Nintendo Switch 2 is officially dropping on my calendar for June 5! If you can’t wait any longer, preorders will start rolling out on April 9. You’ll have two choices: grab the console alone for $450 or go for a sweet bundle deal that comes with a digital copy of Mario Kart World for just an extra $50, making it $500 in total. For all the juicy details about this new console, don’t forget to check out the Nintendo Direct presentation dedicated to Switch 2, explore the list of games enhanced for Switch 2, and see which titles will be available at launch so far.
