Superman Star Branching Out Into Comics, But In An Unexpected Genre

It’s rare to find a Superman actor who’s a genuine comic book enthusiast, but James Gunn is one of them. When he revealed his Green Lantern (Guy Gardner) look for the new Superman film starring David Corenswet, some people criticized the design, especially the haircut. However, those familiar with the comics immediately understood the choice.

Nathan Fillion is a true fan of comic books, and that passion is probably why he’s becoming even more involved in the world of comics.

I’m so excited for this! Nathan Fillion is teaming up with Dark Horse Comics for a new comic series called Witness Point. It’s a four-issue noir story set in the Midwest, and he’s writing it with Heath Corson, who’s done some great work on comics and screenplays like From the World of Minor Threats. I have a feeling this is going to be awesome and I’ve already added it to my pull list!

Nathan Fillion Branching Out After Superman

Soo Lee, the talented artist behind award-winning comics like Carmilla and Kingdom of Earth, will be providing the illustrations for the new series, Witness Point. Expect even more exciting features as it gets ready to launch in comic book stores this summer.

Nathan Fillion explained that he was drawn into the world of Witness Point and immediately envisioned it as a comic book series. He’s thrilled to be working with artist Soo Lee, praising her exceptional work on titles like ThunderCats: Cheetara, The Wizard of Oz, and Disney Villains: Maleficent.

He also had high praise for Lee, saying it’s been a joy collaborating with Soo, along with his colleagues Michelle Chapman and Josh Levy at Collision33, and the team at Dark Horse Entertainment to create this captivating story. He’s enthusiastic about the project and eager for readers to enjoy it.

What Is Nathan Fillion’s Witness Point About?

It’s clear Corson and the author share a strong connection, and Corson believes readers will enjoy Witness Point because of the author’s skillful writing. The story centers on Carter “Kite” Calhoon, a sheriff haunted by past trauma, and his deputy, Priya Khabranij. Their complicated working relationship is put to the test when they investigate the gruesome murder of a U.S. Marshal in the small town of Baraboo, Wisconsin.

According to Corson, Nathan is a naturally gifted storyteller who brings humor, memorable characters, and genuine human connection to all his work. He believes they’ve successfully captured much of that quality in the game Witness Point.

Lee shares Corson’s view on what Nathan Fillion adds to the comic book world. He explains, ‘Witness Point isn’t a standard crime story, and I wanted the artwork to show that. Because the setting and characters are so unique, I aimed for colors and visuals that would reflect that unusual quality.’

We’re not sure if Nathan Fillion will appear on Supergirl, but it would be great if he did. In the meantime, you can see him in The Rookie – that’s what I meant!
