Superman spotted above London skyscraper with “record-breaking” publicity stunt

Am I gazing up at something extraordinary? Could it be an avian wonder or a swift flyer from another realm? No, my friends, it’s unmistakably Superman, and he’s gracefully floating above London‘s highest skyscraper, breaking records as part of a breathtaking publicity spectacle for the upcoming film.

James Gunn’s DC Universe is gearing up for its debut, and the marketing strategy is already in full swing. Actors David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor have been collaborating on TikTok, and they are currently jet-setting around the globe for a massive promotional tour.

Currently, a colossal, “unprecedented 11ft statue” depicting Superman can be seen soaring over The Shard, London’s highest skyscraper.

As a captivated admirer, I couldn’t help but share these breathtaking images of a true hero, perched high above London, nestled amidst the majestic spire of a building.

“Mind-blowing” Superman model took 2,000 hours to make

The Superman structure stands more than 300 meters high, as confirmed by The Shard. From certain distances, approximately 40 miles away, it can be spotted. On a good day, you might even see helicopters from the Daily Planet news crew orbiting around it.

It’s astonishing to witness our version of Superman depicted so realistically atop The Shard, as Gunn stated (through London World).

The project involved extensively scanning Corenswet and collaborating closely with the filmmakers, resulting in an impressive structure. As you might guess, the Steel Man was constructed primarily from steel: a sturdy welded steel frame, to be precise, encased within a fiberglass body molded using ECO resin, all reinforced by galvanized steel cables for support above the building.

In all, the creation of the sculpture required four months and approximately 2,000 hours of work from over twenty individuals. They collaborated to bring a 120kg model to life, which was placed in its position this morning (July 1). The team worked together to lift Superman into place.

Today in London, don’t forget to gaze upward! 😮 The launch of DC Studios’ Superman is being celebrated with an awe-inspiring 11ft tall statue that will be perched 300 meters high atop the spire of The Shard. Don’t miss it! #DCSuperman #LookUp @WarnerBrosUK

Daniel Fulbrook, Marketing chief at REM and overseer of The Shard, noted that since Superman has long been a symbol of hope and bravery, it seems perfectly appropriate that he now keeps vigil over London from the summit of one of its most recognized landmarks.

Viewing him hanging from The Shard’s peak is quite extraordinary. We are immensely proud to be part of the team that brings this remarkable character to life in such an audacious and awe-inspiring manner.
