If you’ve seen the Superman trailer, you might have spotted our superhero cradling a little green baby in his hands. This adorable tot is none other than Baby Joey – and the latest movie merchandise reveals some intriguing details about his past.
It’s clear as day that Superman will be the blockbuster sensation of this summer – just take a glance around you. Advance screenings are selling out fast, online ticket platforms have experienced crashes during pre-sales, and it seems like there’s more popcorn buckets than we can handle!
For quite some time now, there has been much anticipation and speculation about DC’s return, and this is reflected in the numerous rumors that have surfaced (it could even be said that they’ve been around for years). Consequently, it’s not unexpected to come across various claims of leaks when browsing social media.
It appears that with Warner Bros. releasing a large amount of new merchandise lately, it seems Baby Joey may have a more significant connection to the DC Universe than initially assumed – and this apparent leak could be authentic. Caution: Major spoilers are coming up!
Superman children’s book gives away huge Baby Joey spoiler
In the kid’s book titled “Superman’s Friends and Foes,” which is part of the merchandise linked to the upcoming movie, it’s revealed that Baby Joey is the toddler son of Metamorpho. The storyline unfolds when Baby Joey gets kidnapped, forcing Metamorpho into a difficult decision: whether to collaborate with Superman or Lex Luthor.
Apart from this, we’re expecting a new line of dolls to come out soon. These feature characters such as Superman (David Corenswet), Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi), Metamorpho, Lex Luthor, Krypto, and Baby Joey. In essence, the reasoning behind it seems correct.
If you’re a follower of DC comics, especially the Justice League series, you might have anticipated this character. Known primarily as Joseph, Metamorpho was subtly hinted to father a radiant green offspring, although he himself wasn’t fully revealed. Not much is disclosed about him beyond this detail.
It’s clear from this information that Joey matches the character portrayed in the trailer clip accurately. Moreover, this aligns with a rumor circulating online – Luthor abducts the boy and employs him as a pawn to compel Metamorpho into trapping Superman in a Kryptonite-infused form.
Although we’re yet to fully understand how Metamorpho fits into Gunn’s narrative, indications point towards him being a permanent fixture in the story. His eerie appearance has been glimpsed in previews, but it appears that he doesn’t have a direct connection with the Justice Gang.

Rather, it’s suggested that what viewers perceive isn’t his true face but a part of his transformative journey. Moreover, there’s speculation that he may secretly be working for Stagg.
Now, we’ve just got to add “being a dad to a mutant newborn” to his growing list.
