Get ready, comic book fans! Superman and Spider-Man – the biggest heroes from DC and Marvel – are teaming up in a special comic book issue hitting shelves in 2026. While we’ll see their adventure in Spider-Man/Superman #1 next April, the recent announcement of this crossover is already creating a huge buzz.
So, right after February started, and not long after Spider-Man/Superman #1 came out, Marvel dropped a ton of cover art! Not just the main cover, but a whole bunch of variants by some seriously amazing artists – we’re talking E.M. Gist, Pepe Larraz, Marcos Martin, Gary Frank, Todd Nauck, Sara Pichelli, Humberto Ramos, Jim Cheung, Phil Noto… wow, that’s a list! …and Russell Dauterman, just to name a few. It’s a feast for the eyes!
The first issue of Spider-Man/Superman is written by a huge team of well-known comic book authors, including Brad Meltzer, Geoff Johns, Louis Simonson, Brian Michael Bendis, Jason Aaron, Joe Kelly, Stephanie Phillips, Jeph Loeb, and more. Basically, it’s a really significant comic book release.
Meltzer shared that he’s dreamed of writing this book for fifty years, explaining that Superman and Spider-Man have had a profound impact on his life, even more so than many people he’s known. He believes the story explores what it truly means to be a good person, and he’s thrilled Marvel gave him the opportunity. He also teased that the artwork by Pepe will be amazing, encouraging readers to prepare for a superhero experience.
Everyone at Marvel is thrilled to be working with DC again on a huge crossover event! This time, they’re celebrating 50 years since Spider-Man and Superman first teamed up. Editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski says they’ve created exciting, new stories that will be easy for fans of all ages to enjoy, featuring the extended families of both heroes meeting for the first time.
