Superman’s David Corenswet compares DCU to Star Wars
David Corenswet recently discussed the similarities and differences between the current DC Universe and Star Wars. In an interview with Screen Rant, he expressed his admiration for the Star Wars galaxy along with his co-star Rachel Brosnahan.
According to Corenswet, James referred to the new DCU as having a similar vibe to Star Wars, implying that it’s not our reality, but another world entirely. It’s not an origin story; instead, you’re dropped right into this universe and discover its secrets along the way.
Additionally, the actor shared that incorporating John Williams’ legendary Superman theme was a crucial aspect in the making of the upcoming movie too.
He shared, “Star Wars’ music has been deeply ingrained in my memory for so long, and John Williams’ compositions have helped me discover other fantastic movies. His work on this film is particularly surreal because now I’m part of a production that features his iconic theme.
In 2024, during an interview on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Gunn discussed the DCU’s resemblance to Star Wars. He explained, “We’re constructing a connected universe, not just telling individual stories.” Gunn emphasized his goal was to establish a universe where viewers could immerse themselves fully, stating that this universe shares more characteristics with Star Wars than Marvel in terms of its expansive nature.
