As a longtime gamer and fan of superhero stories, I was excited to hear that Jack Quaid, who voices Superman in the animated series My Adventures with Superman, had auditioned for the live-action version of the character in James Gunn’s new movie. However, after listening to his interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment.
Jack Quaid, who voices Clark Kent/Superman in the animated series “My Adventures with Superman,” tried out for the live-action role of Superman in James Gunn’s new movie. However, his audition didn’t lead to anything and he mentioned on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that it ended up being unsuccessful.
“I didn’t get very far at all… and that’s fine,” he said, as reported by IGN.
Quaid admitted that while he’d been cast as the vocal actor for Superman, he didn’t match the physical requirements at all. He remained content with not securing the role and found it exciting to have auditioned for such a significant part.
Quaid expressed his high regard for David Corenswet, who secured the part, by remarking, “He’s just like Superman in this role.” Quaid is currently featured on The Boys, which has concluded its fourth installment on Prime Video. (Warning: The following contains spoilers for the TV series)
In the upcoming live-action Superman film, Quaid unfortunately missed out on the leading role. However, he donned a superhero costume in Season 4 of The Boys. Following the team’s subduing of Webweaver, Quaid’s character, Hughie, took over the suit for an undercover assignment. Regrettably, during this mission, Hughie was captured and endured various sexual acts before being rescued moments before his attacker intended to cause him grave harm.
The Gunn-directed Superman film is scheduled for release in cinemas in July 2025. In this production, we have Nicholas Hoult portraying Lex Luthor and Rachel Brosnahan taking on the role of Lois Lane.
