Supergiant Games Confirms Hades 2 Launches As A Timed Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 Console Exclusive

Supergiant Games‘ upcoming roguelike action RPG Hades 2, initially released on PC in May 2024, has thrived during its Early Access phase. Since then, it’s received several content drops, such as the Warsong Update, along with numerous patch updates to address bugs, tweak gameplay mechanics, and improve performance.

Before the developer confirms the official launch, eager gamers are on tenterhooks. However, the surprise announcement came earlier than expected when the platform was disclosed. As of now, a specific release date hasn’t been set, but the developer assured it will be available soon on upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 systems, creating some uncertainty about its PC version.

It’s been close to a year since Supergiant Games unveiled Hades 2, the long-awaited sequel to the original Hades game, which debuted in September 2020 on PCs and Nintendo Switch, with console versions following in 2021. Hades was generally well-received upon its release, and now that Hades 2 is nearing its full release for PCs and consoles, the developers plan to continue their work.

During the most recent Nintendo Creator’s Voice event, Supergiant Games shared unique behind-the-scenes clips of Hades 2’s development, shedding light on the upcoming roguelike action RPG. In this presentation, the team confirmed that when Hades 2 officially launches (version 1.0), it will be exclusively available for a limited time on Nintendo Switch 2 systems. This revelation initially created a bit of confusion regarding its planned release on PC platforms.

Later, Supergiant Games confirmed on social media that Hades 2 would be released simultaneously through its Early Access platforms on PC, both on Epic Games Store and Steam, as well as for the original Nintendo Switch consoles at the same time. This suggests that Hades 2 might also come out on PlayStation and Xbox in the future. But the main question is when the full version (1.0 launch) of Hades 2 will be released.
