Super Mario Galaxy And Super Mario Galaxy 2 Coming To Nintendo Switch 2 In October

During today’s Nintendo Direct broadcast, it was announced that Nintendo Switch 2 will see the simultaneous release of both Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 in a combined package, as well as their individual availability, starting from October 2.

The package is set to join the festivities for Super Mario’s 40th Anniversary, an event that also features the recently-named Super Mario Galaxy Film. This film was hinted at prior to the Galaxy announcement. The Super Mario Galaxy Film is scheduled for a theater release in April 2026.

During the Nintendo Direct, not just those two interstellar journeys were the highlight for Mario fans like me; there were more Mario-related games unveiled! I was super stoked to learn about Super Mario Bros. Wonder Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park and Mario Tennis Fever. To top it all off, a fresh game featuring my man Yoshi and the Enigmatic Book was announced, adding another exciting title to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Super Mario Bros.!

Initially, Super Mario Galaxy debuted on the Nintendo Wii in 2007, followed by its sequel in 2010. The initial game was included in the Super Mario 3D All-Stars compilation released for the system’s 35th anniversary celebration in 2020. However, it’s been a while since Super Mario Galaxy 2 has seen a re-release, with this being the first one following its original launch in 2010.

The upcoming Nintendo Direct announcement has revealed that the Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be available starting January 22nd. Similarly, the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Hades 2 is set to launch on September 25th.
