As a seasoned player of Honkai: Star Rail, I can wholeheartedly say that Sunday has been one of my most rewarding discoveries yet! With his unique blend of support and utility, he truly shines in any team composition.
In the popular game Honkai: Star Rail, Sunday has generated much excitement among players due to his distinctive character traits, deep involvement in the narrative, and late introduction compared to other characters. This anticipation was well-rewarded, as Sunday demonstrates exceptional support capabilities. His skills not only amplify hypercarry characters but also substantially increase summoning power, a trait predicted to become more significant in the developing combat system. This is particularly relevant as players delve into the new Remembrance path, which begins with version 3.0 and promises to reshape team strategies.
In the game Honkai: Star Rail, Sunday currently has immense impact on gameplay and can be further enhanced as new characters and mechanics are added. However, players can already maximize his effectiveness by arming him with existing light cones, relics, and planar ornaments. Here’s an optimal strategy to construct Sunday in the game.

Best Sunday Relics In Honkai: Star Rail
On Sunday in Honkai: Star Rail, the playstyle is reminiscent of Bronya and Sparkle, as it concentrates on boosting the team’s Critical Damage while propelling allies forward, especially advantageous during summoning. The optimal build for him follows a common pattern, particularly in terms of relics and stat priorities, yet includes some unique elements that amplify his supportive role.
For Sunday, the most suitable relic set is the Sacerdos’ Relived Ordeal 4-piece Set. The 2-piece bonus enhances his Speed, a crucial factor for aligning his buffs correctly. The 4-piece bonus harmoniously complements his kit since both his Skill and Ultimate are single-target abilities that continually boost the Critical Damage of a chosen ally. This seamless synergy makes it indispensable for hypercarry and summon-based teams.
For those finding it tough to secure top-tier items, a combination of two pieces from Sacerdos’ Relived Ordeal along with two pieces from Messenger Traversing Hackerspace can be effective as well. This setup notably enhances Sunday’s speed, allowing for more flexibility in managing his turn order compared to DPS (Damage Per Second). It is ideal for Sunday to move slightly slower – by 1 or 2 points less than the main DPS character, enabling him to take his turn first and significantly boosting his damage potential directly following their action.
As a gamer, I’d say when it comes to picking planar ornaments, my go-to is the Broken Keel. It’s a fantastic all-rounder support set that cranks up the Critical Damage Multiplier for the whole team as soon as Sunday’s Effect RES hits 30%.
Players enjoy a good deal of versatility when it comes to the primary and secondary attributes of relics and planar ornaments, as the key stat to focus on is Critical Damage (Crit DMG). It’s advised that players strive for at least 200% Critical Damage (Crit DMG) for Sunday. This implies prioritizing this stat not just on the Body piece but also through sub-stats. Apart from Crit DMG, players should aim to keep a reasonably high Speed (SPD) by wearing SPD boots and gathering enough SPD sub-stats to keep Sunday slightly slower than the intended character, ensuring optimal turn sequence synchronization. To trigger his Ultimate as often as possible, it’s crucial to add Energy Regeneration Rate on the Link Rope.
For additional statistics, players are given greater flexibility and can focus on bolstering defensive attributes like Effect Resistance (Sunday’s abilities also boost Effect Resistance, making it simple for him to reach 30%), as well as Health Points (HP) and Defense, to improve Sunday’s overall durability.
Best Sunday Light Cones In Honkai: Star Rail
Sunday undoubtedly benefits the most from his signature light cone, A Grounded Ascent as his best light cone option. It not only boosts his Energy but also significantly enhances the targeted ally’s DMG output, even without any superimposition. Additionally, although Sunday is already SP neutral, this light cone can make him SP positive, as it allows him to recover a skill point once every two uses of his Skill or Ultimate.
For those who prefer less expensive choices, the signature ability “The Battle Isn’t Over” from Bronya can be a suitable 5-star option obtained through standard banners. Similar to “A Grounded Ascent“, it increases damage for the target, regenerates energy on Sunday, and recovers skill points every two ultimate abilities. Another strong 5-star choice is Sparkle’s light cone “Earthly Escapade“, which enhances Sunday’s Critical Damage and provides the team with Critical Rate and Critical Damage. However, unlike Sparkle, Sunday has difficulty consistently generating skill points, reducing the frequency of this light cone’s effect and making it less attractive compared to free options like Bronya’s signature.
In terms of the optimal choices for a 4-star character like Sunday, “Past and Future” seems to be the most suitable, as it complements well with Sunday’s capacity to progress allies and increase their damage output. For teams boasting multiple Imaginary characters, “Planetary Rendezvous” can also be an effective pick, providing a boost in damage for allied characters of the same element. Furthermore, “Carve the Moon, Weave the Clouds, Dance! Dance! Dance!” and “Dreamville Adventure” serve as more adaptable and versatile support options that can cater to Sunday based on the team’s requirements. It is worth noting that while a BIS (Best in Slot) light cone is ideal for characters like Acheron or Boothill, who heavily rely on their signature light cones, it is not as crucial for a support unit like Sunday, as it doesn’t necessitate excessive optimization.
Sunday Trace Priority In Honkai: Star Rail
As a gamer, I’d recommend focusing on maximizing Sunday’s trace and bonus skills from the skill tree, except for his basic attack. If you’re running low on resources, here’s the priority order to get the biggest bang for your buck:
1. Skill
2. Ultimate = Talent
3. Basic ATK
