The TV show “Suits” had a sluggish beginning upon its return, as evidenced by the viewership of its premiere on Sunday night, which attracted approximately 2.6 million viewers for NBC’s latest spinoff of the popular USA Network series, titled “Suits LA.”
Among the four fresh drama series introduced by the network this season, “Suits LA” opened with the third-highest viewership based on Live + Same Day data from Nielsen. Specifically, “Brilliant Minds” attracted 3.9 million viewers when it aired on Monday, September 23rd, while “The Hunting Party” premiered with 3.1 million viewers on Sunday, January 19th. Notably, “Grosse Pointe Garden Society,” which was broadcast at 10 p.m. on Sunday following “Suits LA,” had the lowest debut viewership of only 1.8 million viewers.
During its premiere at 9 p.m., ‘Suits LA’ only managed to keep half of the viewers who watched NBC earlier, as ‘The Americas’, a nature documentary narrated by Tom Hanks, attracted 5.2 million viewers in its second hour, up from 4.7 million during its first. In the same timeslot, ‘Watson’ episode 3 on CBS drew more viewers with 4.7 million.”

The spin-off series “Suits LA” was officially approved by NBC following the resurgence of popularity for the original “Suits,” which ended in 2019. When it was added to Netflix during the summer of 2023, it experienced a significant surge in interest. According to Nielsen, it was the most-watched series of that year, with a total of 57.7 billion minutes streamed. This figure surpassed “Bluey,” the second most popular title of 2023, by 31.4%, and broke the record set by “The Office” in 2020 for the most minutes watched in a single year. Furthermore, “Suits LA” set new records on Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings, spending 12 consecutive weeks at No. 1 and holding the top spot for a total of 15 weeks.
Despite not appearing likely to achieve the same level of popularity as the original series, it’s reasonable to expect a considerable number of viewers will tune in via streaming platforms following its premiere on NBC. However, unlike the original “Suits” which was widely accessible on Netflix in 2023, “Suits LA” can only be streamed on Peacock.
Stephen Amell plays the character Ted Black in ‘Suits LA’, a series where this ex-federal prosecutor from New York transitions into an entertainment lawyer. However, instead of sticking to his new profession, he gets entangled in a criminal defense case. The cast also includes Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt and Bryan Greenberg.
Aaron Korsh, the brainchild behind the original “Suits,” is also the creator of the spin-off series “Suits LA.” He works alongside David Bartis, Doug Liman, Gene Klein, Anton Cropper, Genevieve Sparling, Rick Muirragui, and Jon Cowan in their roles as executive producers. Universal Content Productions serves as the studio for this production.
