Following the crowded first episode, Suits LA’s second installment becomes more manageable to follow along – and it brings significant advancements in Lester’s case, as well as a growing undercurrent of friction between Rick and Erica.
Last week, Suits LA kicked off dramatically – indeed, with a real bang (a blast from the past). The premiere episode concluded with clear divisions emerging: Stuart Lane deceived Ted Black into a merger that left him out of his own law firm and jeopardized his future, Erica took over entertainment leadership following Rick’s treachery, and Ted chose to represent Lester in his murder trial.
The information presented was overwhelming, and things only grew more surprising as we reached the most unexpected turn: Ted’s brother Eddie, who appeared frequently in the pilot episode, is none other than a deceased individual. To clarify, Ted reveals that his father supposedly allowed “them” (unspecified individuals) to take Eddie’s life when he was still a teenager. In Ted’s account, Eddie’s spirit, or what seems like a comforting memory, frequently haunts their house – although I prefer to refer to it as a ghost for the sake of brevity.
In the second episode, there are two primary storylines that unfold: First, Lester is faced with accusations of murder, and secondly, Erica and Rick compete over Dylan Pryor.
Every development in Lester’s case in Suits LA Episode 2
At the beginning of the episode, I found myself encountering Amanda exiting the elevator onto my floor, where a fresh sign now read Black & Associates instead of Black Lane. Curious, I inquired about her presence there. We exchanged a bit of playful banter, and then I probed her about an old man named Hanrahan, the prosecutor working on Lester’s case. Amanda seemed skeptical about Lester’s innocence, but she also scolded me for making light of such a serious situation by suggesting that he might be guilty.
Ted, Kevin, and Lester had a conversation during which Lester shared details about an incident involving Simon. The trio attended a movie premiere together, returned home, and consumed ecstasy. In a reckless moment, they chose to handle firearms, leading to a tragic event as Simon lost control and accidentally shot himself. Frightened, he immediately dialed 911 for help. Upon the arrival of law enforcement officials, they apprehended him promptly.

The tale is well-organized and clean, yet Kevin remains unconvinced. Regardless, he pledges to delve as deeply as possible in order to assist with Ted’s predicament.
The story is nicely put together, but Kevin isn’t buying it. However, he vows to dig up whatever information he can to support Ted’s situation.
Simultaneously, Ted encounters the prosecutor for the case, Elizabeth Smith – known for her tenacity. “They call me when all hope seems lost, yet they still require a victory,” he remarks.
She proposes a plea bargain involving ten years in prison to him, yet Ted refuses. This might not be the wisest choice, given that she has a record of individuals ready to testify about his tendency to lie, and an autopsy report suggesting that his actions were not indicative of suicide.
At a later time, Kevin discovers financial records belonging to Lester that suggest he’s been embezzling money from Simon. A disagreement arises between Kevin and Ted regarding the case, as Kevin believes Lester is guilty, which annoys Ted. However, they reconcile and decide to confront Lester. Lester admits that Simon had transferred $500k out of their production funds, so he was returning it in small increments. To keep things balanced, he also undercharged the studio for his services as a way of compensating himself.
He adamantly claims innocence regarding the murder of Simon, and Kevin appears to be convinced at last. However, by the episode’s end, matters become tangled: Elizabeth shows up at Ted’s workplace and discloses that Lester’s wife was having an affair with Simon before his demise. “That’s what we call a motive,” she explains.
If matters weren’t complicated enough, Amanda harbors resentment towards Elizabeth. As she exits Ted’s office, Amanda accuses Elizabeth of being responsible for the death of Dante Jefferson, one of her former clients. “You are just as guilty as if you had stabbed him with a knife,” she declares.
Elizabeth advises against getting involved with Lester’s case as it seems like a “lost cause”, and Amanda promises to rush over if Ted needs her assistance.
Rick and Erica’s fight for Dylan Pryor
In case you recall, Dylan Pryor was portrayed by Victoria Justice in the premiere episode. Now, given that Erica is now in charge of entertainment, she’s the one accountable for her.
In the beginning of the second installment, Ted discusses Dylan with Erica, highlighting his forthcoming independent film and the kickoff of an action series franchise. However, Erica is unaware of who Dylan is, but she agrees to take care of her own matters so that Ted can concentrate on Lester’s court case.
In the upcoming scene, you’ll see Erica encountering Leah having trouble with a photocopier. Curious, she inquires about Dylan Pryor from Leah – luckily for Erica, Leah is quite fond of him.
In the meantime, Dylan reaches out to Rick over the phone to inquire about his sudden absence from her professional circle. Rick informs her that he has switched law firms, yet assures her that Erica will continue handling her affairs. However, Dylan faces an issue requiring resolution: she’s committed to an independent film production, but it clashes with her ongoing Warner Bros project. She is determined not to let this minor movie compromise her career trajectory.
Erica and Leah have a meeting with Dylan’s friend who is also a writer, as well as Fred, the producer. Fred is hesitant to let Dylan out of her six-month contract. However, the writer proposes a solution: he suggests that Dylan will complete her work in just three months, but then she would also serve an additional month under the contract for security reasons. This way, Dylan could exit her agreement two months ahead of schedule. Fred agrees to this compromise, and it appears that the issue has been resolved.
Leah made a mistake in the paperwork, revealing that Dylan already had a role booked with Warner Bros, which violates her indie contract. Erica then explained to Leah, “Just so you know, the writer doesn’t have control, it’s the one with the money who makes the decisions.
Rick shows up at her doorstep, successfully persuading her to engage in a private duel, with the stipulation that the winner would represent her in court for Dylan’s case. In simpler terms, the one who fulfills her desires gets to be her legal representative.
They adopt distinct strategies: Rick resorts to the threat of a lawsuit and damaging his own reputation, prompting Fred to increase her number of scenes to 40; Erica asserts that Warner Bros is supporting her legal action against him with full force, synchronizing her promotional tour with the independent film’s shooting schedule, which is permitted in their contract.
Ultimately, he gives in and submits to Erica, which leads Dylan to stick with her – until Rick returns to Fred and strikes a less antagonistic deal, enabling her to handle two projects simultaneously. It becomes clear (through not-so-subtle indications) that they had a romantic encounter, but their work commitments intervened. With Dylan as his client, Samantha consents for Rick to serve as the head of entertainment.
It’s clear that Ted is upset over losing Dylan, yet he encourages Erica to keep standing her ground. He puts it this way: “I’d prefer you engage in a fight rather than retreat from one… You need to learn from your blunders.
By the close of the show, Erica confesses to Leah that she doesn’t share her passion for films or television programs. However, working as an entertainment attorney is the sole means for Erica to be involved in Hollywood’s action. They reach a mutual agreement: Erica will assist Leah in improving her legal skills, while Leah will guide Erica through the intricacies of the entertainment industry.
Everything that happens in 2010 with Ted
In Episode 2 of “Suits”, there are more recollections of Ted’s history, focusing particularly on the events that followed Billy’s demise in 2010.
Initially, we see a flashback where Ted attends a performance by one of Samantha’s clients, Cameron Logsdon. Notably, Cameron is portraying himself and also showcasing remarkable impersonations of Mark Wahlberg and Christopher Walken. Ted makes some jibes about his own looks (remember, he managed to survive an explosion!), which irks him a bit.
Instead of leading to any major turmoil, Ted finds himself in a calm situation with Samantha, but his mind is stirred by an idea. He initiates a raid by the FBI on a local gangster’s hideout, resulting in the arrest of Jimmy, a notorious hitman for a mob boss. Believing he has no cause for concern since Billy is deceased, Ted employs Cameron to perform an impression of Billy, tricking Jimmy into thinking that Billy is still alive.
As a dedicated fan, I can attest that things are moving forward – Jimmy sends his lawyer packing so he can collaborate with Ted. Although we’re aware that protective custody awaits him, the specific actions required from him remain uncertain.
In due course, Ted finds himself facing a harsh rebuke from Samantha over his exploitation of her client. She accuses him of being much like his father, as he continues to leverage others for personal gain. Upon admitting his mistake, the situation appears to be resolved once more.
Harvey Specter mention!
In a concise moment, Ted and Kevin engage in conversation, discussing the charismatic legal figure, Harvey Specter, who is renowned for his exceptional skills as a lawyer from the original Suits series. It’s hard to imagine anyone unfamiliar with this character, given that they are following Suits LA.
In a simpler and more conversational manner, Kevin states, “I’ve never been a fan of him… he had more swagger than anyone else I knew, including you,” to which Ted responds, “And that’s precisely the reason I found him appealing.
It’s unclear exactly when Harvey will arrive in LA… but he’s coming, and hopefully it’ll be soon.
