Subnautica 2 Delayed To 2026 As New Trailer Debuts

In the past few days, there were whispers that Subnautica 2 might be postponed due to the alleged departure of Unknown Worlds’ management team at the hands of their parent company Krafton. Now, it has been confirmed by Unknown Worlds that the early-access phase for Subnautica 2 is being pushed back to 2026. To keep fans excited, they have released a fresh trailer for the game.

On their official website, Unknown Worlds explained that the game’s release has been pushed back due to a focus on enhancing several aspects of the game following a private beta testing period. Their intention is to make the game even stronger by incorporating new biomes, vehicle enhancements, additional tools and creatures, and a more extensive narrative as a result of this delay.

Charlie Cleveland, the former director and designer of Subnautica 2, recently expressed his opinion that the game could be released early now. This week, it was suggested that the delay might stem from a $250 million bonus Krafton promised Unknown Worlds if they reached specific financial targets this year. Since Subnautica 2 isn’t being released in early access, it seems unlikely that Unknown Worlds will achieve those targets by 2025.

I’ve been so excited about Subnautica 2, and the recent trailer had me buzzing! The comments under it are flooded with fans imploring Krafton to honor their $250 million bonus commitment, instead of focusing solely on the game itself. It’s a heartfelt plea for the developers, but whether this outpouring of support will lead to the bonus being paid is yet to be determined.

Subnautica 2 will be released on Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2026.
