Street Fighter Movie Adds Dan And Balrog Actors, Confirms Akuma Casting – Report

It’s been announced that a few new faces have joined the cast of the upcoming Street Fighter movie. Recently, there were whispers that rapper-turned-actor Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson might play Balrog, and it seems those rumors are true. Additionally, another actor has agreed to portray Dan Hibiki, a character known for being one of the least powerful fighters in the Street Fighter universe.

As reported by Deadline, it’s been announced that comedian Andrew Schulz will take on the role of Dan in an upcoming film. Given that Dan is primarily a character who provides comic relief and generates laughs, this casting choice seems fitting. This will be Dan’s debut in live-action media. Previously, Schulz has made appearances in shows like The Underdoggs, the remake of White Men Can’t Jump, and Netflix’s sitcom Tires (season 2). He is also the host of Flagrant Pod, a well-known comedy podcast, and his latest stand-up special was streamed on Netflix.

In a later report by The Hollywood Reporter, Jackson’s role as Balrog was officially confirmed. The Hollywood Reporter also disclosed additional cast members such as Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineeo as Ken, Jason Momoa as Blanka, and Orville Peck as Vega. Moreover, the publication mentioned that Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i, a well-known wrestler from WWE and former World Champion, will portray Akuma, one of the main antagonists in the movie.

Callina Liang, an actress not widely recognized yet, who has worked on projects like the 2024 horror-thriller titled Presence, was selected to portray Chun-Li this past week. Kitao Sakurai will be helming Street Fighter, and filming is tentatively set to start in August. Sony had initially scheduled Street Fighter for a 2026 release, but it’s now anticipated to premiere sometime next year.

As a die-hard Street Fighter enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Capcom has revealed some exciting news! Namely, the iconic martial artist Sagat will be making his entrance in Street Fighter 6 come August. Additionally, there’s an upcoming update that promises to introduce some eye-catching swimwear outfits to the game – talk about quenching our thirst for fresh content!
