As a seasoned gamer and follower of the chaotic world of streaming, I’ve seen it all – from the sublime to the ridiculous. However, the antics of Johnny Somali have always been a unique blend of both, often veering towards the latter.
In South Korea, well-known YouTube personality Johnny Somali encountered physical violence from an online troll, also known as a stream sniper, as local residents grow increasingly tired of his behavior.
Offline streamer Johnny Somali has had his fair share of confrontations. Previously, he faced fines in Japan due to his disruptive behavior at a restaurant, and was detained in Israel for bothering a female police officer.
Recently, Johnny Somali embarked on a new endeavor which led him to South Korea, where his past mischiefs seem to have followed him.
Ever since I’ve been here, I’ve found myself in numerous altercations with law enforcement, secretly recorded customers at a beauty store without their consent, and caused quite a stir when I disrespected a statue that represents the victims of sexual exploitation.
Frustrated by his behavior, some residents have chosen to address the issue directly by ambushing Somali and challenging him face-to-face.

On October 24th, I found myself in an unusual situation. As I went about my day, a figure clad in combat gear sneaked up to Somali and delivered a heavy punch with his right fist. He then casually strolled away, leaving me taken aback by the unexpected turn of events.
Jino, who was acting as Somali’s cameraman, attempted to intervene when the man snatched his phone. However, the man disregarded him and kept walking after grabbing the phone. When Jino tried to reclaim it, the man carelessly tossed the device aside and carried on walking.
Despite the YouTuber persistently pursuing him and inciting a fight, the local preferred to de-escalate the situation, and in the end, Somali decided to abandon his chase.
Johnny endured a gash above his eyebrow as a result of the punch, yet he casually mentioned that he’s faced more severe injuries previously and was relatively untroubled by the current damage.
Things could’ve taken a turn for the worse, but fortunately, it wasn’t his aim that struck my eye itself. I’m thankful and relieved to say my eye is fine. He only hit my eyebrow instead. That’s quite fortunate. I expect that injury to heal within a few days.
Previously, it’s not unheard of for residents to confront or criticize a Somali streamer online. In 2023, an individual from Japan physically assaulted the streamer following offensive remarks.
