As a dedicated gamer and cat enthusiast with a soft spot for cyberpunk settings, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the announcement of Stray’s release date on Nintendo Switch! Having missed out on the initial release due to my commitment to other gaming systems, this news has brought a newfound excitement to my life.
It was unquestionably a wonderful International Cat Day for cat owners and enthusiasts worldwide, as they dominated social media for approximately 24 hours. One of the reasons the day brought so much joy might have been the announcement from publisher Annapurna Interactive about the release date of their action-adventure game, Stray.
During the Nintendo Direct presentation in June 2024, it was unveiled that the game would launch on Nintendo Switch consoles. However, no additional information was given at that time. That all changed on International Cat Day (August 8th, 2024), as the publisher disclosed that the popular feline character would bring its mischievous escapades to Nintendo Switch consoles on November 19th, 2024.

Anticipating fans were excitedly looking forward to playing the cat-centric character’s escapades on Nintendo Switch, and their wait was finally confirmed with an official announcement during the Nintendo Direct event. While they patiently waited for a specific launch date, the game’s distributor ignited social media chatter on International Cat Day by revealing the game’s release date: 19th November 2024, perfectly timed for the upcoming Holiday season.
Before the game becomes available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop, it’s expected that its graphics will be tailored to match the Switch’s current screen resolution capabilities. Players can enjoy exploring the cyberpunk world in either handheld mode (720p) or TV mode (1080p), regardless of whether their TV offers high-resolution displays. It is not yet known if Stray will run at 30 frames per second (FPS) or 60 FPS when it launches.
The action-adventure video game initially debuted on PlayStation systems and personal computers in July 2022. Later, it made its way to Xbox consoles in August 2023. Since its launch, the game has received primarily favorable reviews due to its stunning visuals, compelling storyline, intricate level design, and noteworthy feline-inspired gameplay mechanics, which have earned it several accolades.
