Strategy RPG Emberstoria announced for iOS, Android, and PC in Japan from Square Enix

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say Square Enix never ceases to surprise me with their innovative titles! The announcement of Emberstoria, their upcoming free-to-play strategy RPG (or possibly RTS, who knows?) has certainly piqued my curiosity.

Square Enix has revealed that they are releasing the free-to-play strategy role-playing game, titled Emberstoria, on iOS, Android, and PC in Japan. You might recognize the name as Square Enix filed a trademark for Emberstoria about two years ago. Although Square Enix classifies Emberstoria as a strategy RPG, the short snippets of gameplay shown in the trailer suggest it may incorporate real-time strategy (RTS) elements against massive monsters. We’re eagerly awaiting a more comprehensive gameplay demonstration in the second trailer. Additionally, we can’t wait to learn more about the building mechanic hinted at earlier in the teaser. Check out the debut trailer for Emberstoria below, featuring its upcoming Japanese release:

Emberstoria showcases character designs by Yusuke Kozaki (Fire Emblem: Awakening, Fire Emblem Fates), music from Masashi Hamauzu (Final Fantasy XIII, SaGa Frontier 2), and a narrative penned by Benny Matsuyama (Imperial SaGa). Similar to many Square Enix mobile game announcements in Japan, localization is yet to be confirmed. For more information on the plot and main characters, visit the official Japanese game website here. As of now, the store pages are not active, but they will soon be available for iOS here and Android here. The device requirements for iOS, Android, and PC can be found here.
