Stranger Things: The First Shadow Is Coming To Broadway In 2025

As a long-time Stranger Things fan who grew up in the 80s and can still remember the terror of watching Poltergeist or Goonies for the first time, I am beyond excited about the upcoming Broadway play, Stranger Things: The First Shadow! After binge-watching seasons 1 through 4 multiple times (and yes, I shed a tear or two during that final episode), I couldn’t wait to learn more about the backstory of our beloved characters.

Before Stranger Things Season 5 concludes the popular Netflix series, American fans can look forward to experiencing the stage play in real life next year. Officially titled “Stranger Things: The First Shadow,” its Broadway premiere is scheduled for April 2025. A new trailer for the play was also released along with this exciting news.

As a devoted fan, I couldn’t help but share my excitement when I learned that “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” graced the stage of London’s West End towards the end of 2023. This captivating prequel to our beloved series was masterfully directed by Stephen Daldry.

As a dedicated fan diving back into the Stranger Things universe, I’m excitedly delving into a captivating origin story, penned by the Duffer Brothers themselves. This gripping tale unfolds in the 1950s, revealing Henry Creel’s transformative journey from an ordinary man to the chilling antagonist we know as Vecna. The narrative also follows familiar faces like Jim Hopper, Joyce Maldonado, and the tragically heroic Bob Newby, all hailing from Stranger Things Season 2.

At this point, we don’t know if any actors from the original cast of The First Shadow musical will return for their roles on Broadway. The show is scheduled to open at the Marquis Theatre in New York City on April 22, 2025, with previews starting on March 28, 2025. Meanwhile, Stranger Things Season 5 is set to air in 2025, but a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet.
