As a die-hard Stranger Things fan who has binge-watched every episode multiple times, I couldn’t be more thrilled to hear that Oscar-nominated director Frank Darabont has decided to come out of retirement and join the team for Season 5! With his impressive resume, including The Shawshank Redemption and The Walking Dead, he brings a wealth of experience and creativity that will undoubtedly elevate our beloved series. I can’t wait to see how he infuses his unique style into the show, especially since he mentioned that he was drawn to Stranger Things because of its positivity and heart.
In the gaming world, it’s a bummer to hear that a renowned director, who was up for an Oscar and stepped out of the spotlight, won’t be returning to direct some episodes in Stranger Things Season 5. I was looking forward to seeing his unique touch on the show.
Halfway through the production of its fifth and concluding season, Netflix’s original hit series Stranger Things, brings us closer to meeting our beloved characters such as Max and Eleven once more.
Meanwhile, discreet information about the production process has been gradually emerging, such as the details on how they persuaded Oscar-nominated filmmaker Frank Darabont to emerge from his retirement.
During an interview with The Daily Beast for the 30th anniversary of his acclaimed film The Shawshank Redemption, Darabont shared why he decided to return to work after retiring: “It was really my wife and I’s passion for this series that drew me out. Our current content often features awful people doing despicable things for selfish motives, but Stranger Things is filled with genuine warmth.
He continued, “That positivity is something I really responded to. I haven’t missed the business but I have missed being on set with creative people… It may well be one and done, but we’ve still got time.”
For the first time since he worked on TNT’s neo-noir crime drama “Mob City” (which aired from December 4th to December 18th, 2013), Frank Darabont will be back in the director’s chair for a television series.
Besides The Walking Dead’s first season, Frank Darabont has contributed to notable television shows like the sixth season of The Shield and the initial episode of Raines.
Generally speaking, while the specific episodes that the Stranger Things creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, will influence through their creative vision haven’t been specified yet, they usually take charge of writing and directing the opening and closing episodes for each season.
Although Stranger Things Season 5 hasn’t been given a release date yet, keep yourself entertained by exploring other exciting Netflix series such as Wednesday Season 2 and Virgin River Season 6. Additionally, don’t forget to browse through all the TV shows available for streaming this month!
