Ross Duffer, the creator of Stranger Things, announced that the final episode will be shown in more cinemas than originally planned because ticket sales have been incredibly high.
Okay, so Stranger Things 5 was HUGE. Volume 1 dropped on Netflix right around Thanksgiving, and then Volume 2 came out on Christmas. Now, they’re finishing it off – Volume 3 is coming out on New Year’s Eve here in the US, and then on New Year’s Day for my friends across the pond in the UK. I’ve been counting down the days!
So, if you’re like me and desperately need to know when and where to catch the final episode of Stranger Things – it’s called ‘The Rightside Up’ – check out their watch guide. It’s got all the details!
The movie is still showing in theaters, and because so many people want to see it, it’s now playing on more screens than ever before.
3,500 Stranger Things screenings have already sold out

When the final Stranger Things episodes were first announced in October, they were scheduled to be shown in 350 US movie theaters. As tickets went on sale in early December, that number increased to over 500. Now, with the release date nearing, public interest has driven the number of participating theaters to over 620.
Ross Duffer, one of the show’s creators, shared the news of the impressive sales on Instagram and also revealed plans for more to come.
More than 1.1 million fans have already confirmed they’ll be attending the final screenings on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, according to Duffer. Over 3,500 showtimes at more than 620 theaters are completely sold out, making this a fantastic way to celebrate the end of a ten-year adventure with everyone!
Duffer mentioned he and his brother and co-creator, Matt, will be at some screenings in Los Angeles, adding, “We hope to see some of you there.”
Finale has sold more tickets than K-Pop Demon Hunters

According to Deadline and data from EntTelligence, pre-sale tickets for the Stranger Things finale are performing well compared to other recent theatrical releases. They’re currently ahead of pre-sales for K-Pop Demon Hunters at this same point (700,000 tickets), but behind the numbers for Sony/Crunchyroll’s Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle (1.7 million tickets).
Despite being a two-day event for K-Pop Demon Hunters and a three-day opening for Demon Slayer, the Stranger Things cinema release will be shorter. It will begin at 5pm on New Year’s Eve, coinciding with its Netflix debut, and end the following day.
