Stranger Things fans can fly around Hawkins in new Microsoft Flight Simulator collab

Fans of Stranger Things can now experience the show’s setting, Hawkins, in a whole new way thanks to a surprising addition to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

I’m a huge fan of Microsoft Flight Simulator, and while it’s amazing for realistic flying, it’s also been surprisingly fun with some of its crossovers! They’ve done some really cool things, like letting you fly an Ornithopter around the planet Arrakis from Dune, and even letting me recreate scenes from Top Gun with planes from the movie. It’s a great mix of serious simulation and just plain fun!

The latest collaboration is definitely unexpected: the popular Netflix series Stranger Things is coming to the world of gaming.

In a blog post, Microsoft announced the free expansion, which focuses on the eccentric Murray Bauman and his new project, Hawkins Heli-Tours, which gives fans a tour of the fictional Indiana town.

You’ll fly a UH-1H “Huey” helicopter and see famous locations from the show from above, including Starcourt Mall, Hawkins Middle School, and Hawkins National Laboratory.

The game features five unique missions, including covert operations, thrilling chases, and daring rescues. While the developers haven’t revealed specifics, screenshots suggest these missions involve saving people from the dimensional rifts created by Vecna in Season 4.

After bringing peace back to the town, you’ll be able to explore a detailed map with over 40 locations from the show, like Victor Creel’s house.

The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is coming to Netflix, with new episodes scheduled for release around Christmas and New Year’s Eve. To build excitement, the show is partnering with other games – players can now explore a Stranger Things-themed world in both Microsoft Flight Simulator and Fortnite.
