Although it appeared that Stranger Things season 5 concluded the story created by Matt and Ross Duffer—the show that became a worldwide hit—Netflix has announced there’s more to come, meaning the series isn’t finished yet.
I’m so excited! Netflix just announced a documentary called One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5! It’s coming out on January 12th and it’s going to show us everything that went into making the final season of Stranger Things. We’ll get to see behind the scenes with the cast, the people who created the show, and the whole crew. I can’t wait!
After ten years of captivating audiences, Stranger Things is back for its last season. One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things Season 5 offers a comprehensive look behind the scenes, documenting the cast and crew as they create the final season and bid farewell to the show that has had a profound impact on their lives.
Martina Radwan, the director of films like Girls State, Until the End of the World, and Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow, is also directing One Last Adventure. In an interview with Tudum, Radwan shared what she was thinking while creating the new Stranger Things documentary.
I’m incredibly thankful to the Duffer Brothers for letting me be a part of this amazing experience. It was a real honor and so much fun to spend a year on set with them, watching them create the show. I wish I could have filmed the earlier seasons too! Everyone – the cast and the whole crew – was incredibly welcoming and generous, sharing stories from the past ten years of making the show. The Duffers constantly challenge themselves and everyone around them to do their best work, and that’s inspiring. Their approach to filmmaking, and the show itself, embodies everything I love about the art form.

Created by Matt and Ross Duffer in 2016, Stranger Things quickly became a global phenomenon. The series has generated over $1 billion for the U.S. economy and earned more than 70 awards. The show’s final season broke records on Netflix, becoming the most popular English-language series launch ever with 59.6 million views in its first week.
The filmmakers discussed their new documentary, which features behind-the-scenes footage from the last season of Stranger Things, and shared that:
As kids in Durham, North Carolina, we always wanted to be filmmakers, but Hollywood seemed like a distant goal. Everything changed when we saw the behind-the-scenes documentaries for The Lord of the Rings – they showed us exactly how a huge movie is actually made, the challenges and all. Seeing Peter Jackson’s dedication made us realize that was the life we wanted. Unfortunately, that kind of in-depth, behind-the-scenes content has become rare with the decline of DVDs and Blu-rays. We wanted to bring it back, and One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things Season 5 – beautifully filmed and directed by Martina Radwan – is our effort to do just that. Whether you’re a Stranger Things fan or simply interested in how big Hollywood productions work, you’ll enjoy this.
