‘Stranger Things’ Cast Was ‘Uncontrollably Crying’ During Final Episode Table Read; David Harbour Calls Series Finale ‘the Best Episode They’ve Ever Done’

As someone who has spent the past decade watching these young stars grow from kids to adults right before my eyes, I can confidently say that the final season of “Stranger Things” will be a bittersweet moment for all of us. The table read for the finale left us all in tears, and I must admit, Noah Schnapp’s emotional outbursts were my favorite.

As a devoted cinephile, I can’t help but share some exciting news about one of my all-time favorite shows, “Stranger Things.” In a heartfelt discussion on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast (as reported by People), David Harbour revealed that during our table read for the series finale, we couldn’t hold back our tears. This emotional moment underscores the bittersweet journey that awaits us when the fifth and final season graces our screens sometime in 2025. Although Netflix hasn’t set a specific release date yet, I can assure you it will be worth the wait. This final chapter consists of eight captivating episodes, each one more enthralling than the last. David himself called the finale “the best episode we’ve ever done,” hinting at a satisfying conclusion to our incredible journey together – “They land the plane.

During the middle of the final episode while we were simply reading it, emotions began to rise and some people started crying,” Harbour explained. “As we approached the last 20 minutes, it turned into a flood of unstoppable tears from various individuals. Noah Schnapp was particularly moving for me.

Harbour added, “I believe another aspect is the nostalgia these children evoke, as it was their time of innocence. Ten years have passed, yet we revisit this concept so skillfully and gracefully… It’s an exceptional episode, part of an outstanding season. I’m sure you’ll appreciate it.

Schnapp and his young co-stars from “Stranger Things” were aged between 11 and 14 when they began filming the hit Netflix series. Essentially, they spent most of their childhood on set and are now in their early twenties as the show approaches its end.

Since the very first episode of “Stranger Things,” Harbor has portrayed Jim Hopper. In a conversation with Discussing Film last year, the actor expressed that he was prepared for the Netflix show to conclude, although it would be somewhat sad.

Harbour expressed that he found it ironic because when he initially began the series, he never wanted it to conclude. This is why he holds the show in high regard. He believes the series is exceptional, regardless of his involvement. Nearing nine years since filming the first season, he feels it’s now appropriate for the series to come to an end.

Harbour elaborated, “Indeed, it’s a mix of joy and sorrow. There’s a sense of loss, but also growth. It’s high time for us to spread our wings and explore new ventures and initiatives. And I’m eager to see what the Duffer Brothers will create next, given their immense talent. So, it’s bittersweet, but change is definitely in order.
