Steven Yeun Joins Paramount’s Untitled Animated Aang ‘Avatar’ Film (EXCLUSIVE)

Actor Steven Yeun is now part of the ensemble for the yet-to-be-titled animated “Avatar” movie, produced by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies.

In my perspective as a movie reviewer, it’s still unclear which of the four nations Yeun’s character belongs to, as the production seems to be keeping those details under wraps for now. Joining the previously announced cast members are Dave Bautista, Eric Nam, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten, and Román Zaragoza, with Yeun being the latest addition.

I’m fortunate to be part of the team that’s bringing the film adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” a series co-created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, to life. Lauren Montgomery is our director, while William Mata is my fellow co-director. We’re looking forward to sharing this movie with you all on January 30, 2026.

Maryann Garger, Latifa Ouaou, Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino are producing.

Steven Yeun, who was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Lee Isaac Chung’s 2020 film “Minari,” is currently working on Ben Affleck’s Netflix production titled “Animals.” He has recently completed the shooting of “RIP,” where he acted alongside Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, also for Netflix. Currently, you can catch him in Bong Joon Ho’s “Mickey 17” along with Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. Some of his other film credits include “Love Me” starring Kristen Stewart, Jordan Peele’s “Nope,” “The Humans,” “Sorry to Bother You,” and “Okja.

On TV, he recently took on both acting and producing roles in the critically acclaimed Netflix/A24 show “Beef,” which earned him Emmy, SAG, and Golden Globe awards. His other small-screen appearances include “The Walking Dead,” “Tuca & Bertie,” “Invincible,” “Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters,” and “The Twilight Zone.

Yeun is represented by a number of talent agencies, including William Morris Endeavor (WME), Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller, Gellman, Meigs & Fox, and Narrative.
