Steven Spielberg’s New Film Moves to June 2026, Daniels’ ‘Everything Everywhere’ Follow-Up Removed From Calendar

The Universal studio has adjusted the launch timings for two significant movies set to be released in 2026; one by filmmaker Steven Spielberg, and the other by the duo, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, who directed “Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Instead of opening on May 15, Spielberg’s upcoming movie is set to debut on June 12. The release date of the currently untitled Daniels film has been temporarily postponed, allowing Spielberg’s movie to take its place in the schedule.

Universal hasn’t provided an explanation for the changes, but it seems that the film by the Daniels (the duo known as the Oscar-winning professionals) is still in its early stages, with no script, title, or cast announcement yet. The studio is likely to announce a new release date for their movie soon.

Steven Spielberg’s upcoming movie, yet to be titled or summarized, was moved in the schedule to create some space from two anticipated blockbusters. This unnamed film was initially set to release on May 1st, following “Avengers: Doomsday,” and before “The Mandalorian and Grogu” spinoff of Star Wars on May 22nd. Now, it will be released on the same date as the Scary Movie reboot by Paramount Pictures, and a week prior to Disney’s Toy Story 5 (June 19).

Josh O’Connor, Emily Blunt, Colman Domingo, Colin Firth, and Eve Hewson are set to appear in a Spielberg film that is rumored to involve UFOs. David Koepp, who has collaborated with the director on projects like “Jurassic Park,” “War of the Worlds,” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” is penning the script. This project marks Spielberg’s return to large-scale action films following his remake of “West Side Story” and the semi-autobiographical drama titled “The Fabelmans.
