Even though the first season of Apple TV+’s Pluribus has just finished, viewers – including horror legend Stephen King – are already eager for another season.
The first season of Pluribus ended with several shocking twists. The Others found a way to potentially compel Carol (Rhea Seehorn) to work with them, and Carol unexpectedly teamed up with Manousos, a partnership that could be risky. The season finale left viewers eager to find out what happens next.
Vince Gilligan, the creator of Pluribus, recently shared that a second season isn’t happening immediately. While he and the writing team have a general plan for the show’s future, he doesn’t expect new episodes to air anytime soon. He understands fans will be disappointed, but explained that he’s getting older and needs to work at a more sustainable pace.
Gordon Smith, writer and executive producer of Pluribus, reinforced Vince Gilligan’s statement about the show’s return. He confirmed they aim to bring it back as soon as they can, but stressed that developing a quality show takes time. Smith acknowledged that fans might be impatient with the wait between seasons, but explained that they’re prioritizing quality over speed and want to ensure the final product is well-made, not rushed.
While everyone understands why the show might be on hold for a while, many viewers are still disappointed with the news. Like many fans, King was hoping the story would continue soon, particularly after the season ended on such a suspenseful note.
I was a little bummed to see the update from Stephen King on X. I totally get where Gilligan’s coming from with the show, but King admitted he’s not getting any younger and, like me and a lot of other fans, he’s really hoping we get season two of Pluribus soon! I’m eager to see what happens next, and it sounds like he is too.
As of today, there’s no official release date for season 2 of Pluribus. Many fans are guessing it could come out in either 2027 or 2028.
