Stephen Amell, known for playing heroes in costume, is trading in his superhero suit for something a little different: a swimsuit. He’s been cast as the main character in Fox’s new version of Baywatch.
Robbie Amell is the first actor announced for the upcoming reboot, which is scheduled to premiere on Fox during the 2026-2027 season. The first season will consist of twelve episodes and filming is planned to begin in Los Angeles next spring.
Hobie Buchannon is a character from the original Baywatch series, played by Jeremy Jackson. He’s the son of Mitch Buchannon, the famous character portrayed by David Hasselhoff.
In the Baywatch reboot, Robbie ‘Hobie’ Buchannon, played by David Chokachi, is still the fun-loving character fans remember. Now, he’s a Baywatch captain, just like his father. The series starts with a surprise: Hobie learns he has a daughter, Charlie, who arrives wanting to follow in the family’s footsteps and become a lifeguard with him.
