While many fans would love to see a Shadow the Hedgehog spin-off game, it seems another character deserves a TV show after appearing in a movie. Ever since Keanu Reeves voiced Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, fans have been asking Paramount+ to create a series focused on this villainous character.

The movie version of the character is just as endearing as fans remember from the video game. And the story behind Shadow in Sonic 3 adds depth, making him a more sympathetic and compelling character.

The movie’s flashbacks reveal Shadow is an alien who came to Earth and formed a close bond with Maria, a vibrant and healthy young woman. His descent into villainy is deeply impacted by her death, which feels particularly tragic because of the full life she had ahead of her.

As much as I loved seeing those character moments, the movie really needed to keep things moving. They introduced a major problem for Sonic and his friends, and thankfully, they didn’t just leave it hanging – they actually dealt with it, which was great!

A new movie focusing on Amy Rose could act as a backstory to the fourth Sonic film, told from her point of view. This would allow for a much more detailed exploration of events than the fourth movie is able to provide.

Since she appears to be around Sonic’s age in the latest movie, there’s roughly fifteen years of her history to explore. I’d especially like to see how she developed her impressive fighting skills. A show could also introduce Little Planet, a significant location from the video games.

An Amy Rose Spinoff Needs To Avoid The Mistakes Of The Knuckles TV Show

If the Sonic movie series continues with more TV shows, it’s important they take lessons from the Knuckles show. While not bad, the series didn’t quite live up to expectations. The Paramount+ show had a couple of key problems that ultimately made it disappointing.

Knuckles is a fantastic character, but the show didn’t give him enough focus, spending too much time on the human characters. If Amy Rose gets her own series, it’s crucial that the story centers on her, rather than sidelining her for other characters.

The third Sonic the Hedgehog movie showed that the previous Knuckles-focused show wasn’t important to the overall story. The movie completely disregarded the show, instead of building on what happened in it. If they were to create a spin-off show about Amy Rose, it would need to have a real impact on the main series.

The team behind the Sonic movies listened to fans, as we saw with the redesigned character and the smaller role for human characters in the third film. It’s likely they’ll continue to prioritize audience feedback when developing future live-action Sonic the Hedgehog TV series.
