Yesterday, June 11, saw the debut of the PC edition of Stellar Blade. Remarkably, it has already become Sony’s largest ever single-player launch on Steam.
Currently, the game has nearly reached a simultaneous player high of 105,000, marking the seventh such record since I began narrating this tale. It’s clear that the number of players will only increase, particularly as we approach the weekend.
Compared to Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, the number of simultaneous players peaked at 77,154, 73,529, and 66,436 respectively. Interestingly, only Helldivers 2 among Sony’s single-player games has a higher record for concurrent players, given that it is a multiplayer game.
Features exclusive to PCs include:
1. AI-enhanced upscaling using Nvidia DLSS 4 and AMD FSR 3.
2. The ability to adjust the frame rate freely.
3. Voiceovers in Japanese and Chinese.
4. Support for ultrawide displays.
5. High-resolution environment textures.
6. Compatibility with DualSense for haptic feedback and trigger effects.
Initially, the PC version was restricted to more than 100 regions worldwide. However, it’s now accessible in over 250 territories. Moreover, numerous mods have emerged, with creators implementing various adjustments and enhancements since the demo launch a couple of weeks back. Not all these modifications are suitable for all audiences, though…
It’s clear that Stellar Blade has been a big hit for developer Shift Up, as they’ve already announced a sequel to the game. This action title, published by Sony, received positive feedback when it was released in April 2024. Players appreciated its unique blend of mechanics from NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
iggn.ru‘s Stellar Blade review returned a 7/10. We said: “Stellar Blade is great in all of the most important ways for an action game, but dull characters, a lackluster story, and several frustrating elements of its RPG mechanics prevent it from soaring along with the best of the genre.”
