On Steam, users have the ability to view their overall spending within the platform. Although this functionality is not entirely novel, it has remained somewhat concealed from the gaming community.
On Reddit, user trotski94 explained a method for discovering the total investment made by users on Steam, offering a precise dollar sum rather than just estimating based on item purchases from one’s history.
1. Navigate to ‘Help’ and select ‘Steam Support.’
2. Under ‘My Account’, find the option for ‘Data Related To Your Steam Account’.
3. Click on that, then locate ‘External Funds Used’.
4. Upon clicking, you will be presented with several categories of information.
As a dedicated Steam user, I understand that my total spending, or the sum of all funds added externally to my account, plays a crucial role in determining my account status. If I haven’t invested at least $5 within the Steam store, then my account is classified as a Limited User Account.
1. The term “OldSpend” represents the sum of money received externally before April 17, 2015 (Friday).
2. “PWSpend” pertains to transactions linked with Perfect World accounts, a publishing partner for CS:GO and Dota 2 in China, as reported in USD.
3. The term “ChinaSpend” indicates the total amount of external funds received within Steam China, reported in RMB, which is China’s currency.
More recently in Steam updates, a game titled Velve, which was initially released for early access, surprisingly closed its doors just a few days after its debut.
