Steam Deck OLED gets $100 price increase in Japan amid stock issues

The Steam Deck will soon cost more in some Asian countries. The price increase, happening through Valve’s partner Komodo Station, starts in early March.

Komodo Station, the official seller of the Steam Deck in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, announced on Friday that the price of the handheld gaming device will increase starting March 6, 2026. This price change will affect both the 512GB and 1TB versions in all three countries.

The price of the Steam Deck is going up in Japan. The 512GB version will now cost JPY 99,800, up from JPY 84,800, and the 1TB model will increase to JPY 114,800 from JPY 99,800. Both new prices are roughly equivalent to $100 USD.

I’ve been following the news, and it looks like prices are going up in South Korea and Taiwan too, but Japan is seeing the biggest increases by far. It’s definitely noticeable there!

Price changes arrive as Steam Deck OLED faces stock issues

Valve recently updated its pricing due to ongoing supply issues, particularly in the US. The Steam Deck OLED sold out on Valve’s website on February 17th.

Valve announced that the Steam Deck OLED might temporarily be unavailable in certain areas because of limited memory and storage.

The disclaimer indicates that difficulties in getting necessary parts are causing problems with the supply chain, potentially leading to price differences and limited product availability in certain areas.

Komodo Station has announced that prices will be updated starting March 6th, affecting Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. As of now, Valve hasn’t announced any price changes for other regions.
