On January 20th, the popular burger and milkshake chain announced a new program starting March 1st. They will be giving hourly employees at their restaurants a bonus paid in Bitcoin, based on the number of hours they work.
Steak ‘n Shake, established in 1934, has hundreds of restaurants throughout the U.S., some owned by the company and others run by franchisees. Recently, the company has been focusing on online services, even starting to accept cryptocurrency at a few locations.
How Steak ‘n Shake’s Bitcoin bonus works
Employees who work by the hour at company-owned restaurants will now receive a bonus paid in Bitcoin—specifically, $0.21 for each hour they work, according to a recent post on X.
The company announced that any Bitcoin bonuses earned will be released to employees over two years. After that period, employees will be able to access the Bitcoin they’ve accumulated.
Beginning March 1st, Steak n Shake will reward its hourly workers at company-owned restaurants with a Bitcoin bonus of 21 cents for each hour they work. Employees will receive this Bitcoin after working for two years.
