Bethesda released a new trailer today highlighting how Starfield will work on PS5 and PS5 Pro. The trailer shows off special features using the DualSense controller and details about the PS5 Pro, just before the game launches on both consoles next week.
So, alongside the gameplay video, the blog dives into all the tech stuff for the PS5 Pro – things like PSSR, how they’re using the adaptive triggers, and a bunch of other details. When it hits PS5, we’re getting the ‘Free Lanes’ update, and if you snag the Premium Edition, you also get the ‘Terran Armada’ DLC thrown in! If you want to check out Scott’s early look at the update and get even more info, you can find his preview here.
Starfield is out now for Xbox Series X|S and PC, and it will be available on PlayStation 5 starting April 7th. You can read a review of the game from when it first launched here.

Get ready to explore the galaxy! Starfield arrives on PlayStation 5 on April 7th, letting you create your own adventure in the Settled Systems. This version includes everything from the game’s release, plus all updates – including the big Free Lanes expansion, which also comes out that day – for the most complete Starfield experience yet.
EXPLORE A NEW FRONTIER ON PLAYSTATION 5
Starfield plays exceptionally well on the PlayStation 5. The console’s powerful hardware ensures a smooth and responsive experience while you journey through the Settled Systems.
PLAYSTATION 5 & PLAYSTATION 5 PRO FEATURES
PlayStation 5 Pro lets you customize your gaming experience to match how you like to play. Choose ‘Visual Mode’ for stunning 4K graphics at 30 frames per second, or ‘Performance Mode’ for smoother, faster action at 60 frames per second. Both modes use PSSR technology to enhance image quality.
As a Starfield fan, I’m excited to hear the game will really take advantage of the PS5 and the new PS5 Pro! It’ll have all the usual stuff like trophies, but it’s great they’ve also optimized it for the super-fast SSDs in both consoles. And even better, it’s going to fully support all the cool features of the DualSense controller – things like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. It’s going to make the experience so much more immersive!
DUALSENSE CONTROLLER
Adaptive Triggers let you truly feel the action. They change the resistance and feedback of the L2 and R2 buttons, making each weapon – whether you’re using it on land or in space – feel distinct and realistic.
The DualSense controller’s light bar reacts to what’s happening in the game. Its color changes to reflect things like your character’s health or the condition of your spaceship. For example, it might pulse red when you’re about to take damage and turn white as you heal.
The touchpad lets you control the game with quick taps and swipes, helping you stay immersed. Press the left side to change perspectives, the right side to open the map, and hold the right side to use your hand scanner. Swiping lets you quickly access important menus like your inventory, missions, and skills.
The DualSense controller’s built-in speaker plays audio logs and ship communications, enhancing the feeling of being immersed in the game’s space setting.
