Enthusiasts of one of Bethesda’s latest original hit games, Starfield, are growing anxious as they fear there may not be fresh content coming out for a while. Gamers have expressed their worries regarding the future of Starfield following its omission from the recent Xbox Showcase.
Redditor totallynormalpersonz, who was initially featured in IGN’s report, expressed his dismay saying, ‘What a letdown it is.’ He feels that Bethesda’s recent updates on the game have been limited to the Creation Club, and he had hoped for something fresh at the Xbox showcase. Unfortunately, Bethesda appears uninterested. It wouldn’t shock me if they’ve moved away from this game, relying on the community to create content for them instead. This trend doesn’t inspire confidence in future projects from the Bethesda game studio.
Fans found it frustrating that there was no update on Starfield during the Xbox Showcase, especially since The Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76 got plenty of attention with new content, seasonal updates, and even fishing features added. Bethesda had earlier hinted at a promising year for Starfield.
More recently, Starfield underwent an update at the end of May, with its main focus being on addressing bugs and enhancing overall stability. A vast array of Starfield mods, highly acclaimed within the gaming community, have been developed by players.
2023 saw a diverse reception for Bethesda’s space odyssey upon its release, with both critics and enthusiasts acknowledging its shortcoming in delivering the jaw-dropping sensation one expects from an interstellar journey. Despite anticipation that upcoming expansions and user-generated content would eventually meet their expectations, this expectation has yet to materialize.
In Michael Higham’s TopMob Starfield review, he expressed that the game finds it challenging to create a unified and impactful RPG experience amidst the vast expanse of stars. Despite its deep respect for scientific philosophy, the narratives and characters present a relatively tame and sterile image of what space exploration might entail in the future.
