Starfield Adds 60FPS On Xbox Series S Along With Other Performance Updates

As a seasoned gamer with decades of pixel-pushing under my belt, I can confidently say that the latest Starfield update has me buzzing like a spacecraft preparing for lift-off! The ability to crank up the frames per second (fps) on the Xbox Series S is a game-changer, making every nebula, every asteroid field, and every alien encounter feel that much more immersive.

Yesterday, all the attention was on the new Rev-8 land vehicle unveiled in Starfield, but there’s another visually appealing aspect to talk about. Bethesda Game Studios has disclosed that the display settings for Xbox Series X now correspond with those of Series S. This means players can enjoy a smooth 60fps experience on the smaller console as well.

In the latest update for Starfield in August, Bethesda provided information about the visual improvements. Although the announcement of the release date for the Rev-8 land vehicle and Shattered Space DLC during Gamescom Opening Night Live garnered much attention, this new patch has more to offer. For example, players with a VRR display on Starfield can now select from 30fps, 40fps, 60fps, or an uncapped option. On the other hand, those using other devices can opt for either 30fps or 60fps, including Xbox Series S users.

Moreover, Starfield allows users to adjust between “balancing Visual quality and Performance while striving to hit the frame rate target,” according to Bethesda. The developer advises selecting Performance for frames per second (fps) of 60 and above, but players are free to choose otherwise. Concurrently, improved reflection effects have been added to shallow pools as well.

In August, we’ve rolled out an update that continues from the June update, which brought the Creations menu, bounty boards, and melee-weapon enhancements into the game. For those curious about acquiring the Rev-8 planet rover in Starfield, TopMob has got you covered with a guide on how to do so.
