Stardew Valley Developer Vows To Never Charge Money For DLC

As a dedicated fan of Stardew Valley, I’m truly in awe of Eric Barone’s unwavering commitment to his creation. The fact that he’s still actively working on new updates and ports for the game, over a decade after its initial release, is nothing short of remarkable. His recent vow to never charge money for any DLC or updates to Stardew Valley is a testament to his passion and dedication towards providing an authentic farming simulation experience for players like me.

Stardew Valley, developed by Eric Barone, is now close to celebrating its ten-year anniversary. Despite this milestone, Barone continues to dedicate his time to creating new updates for the PC version and porting existing content to console editions. Additionally, he has made a commitment to never ask for payment for any future DLC or updates throughout his lifetime.

I solemnly promise, with the reputation of my family lineage at stake, that I will never ask for payment for any DLC or update throughout my entire life. Feel free to save this screenshot as a reminder and hold me accountable if I break this commitment.

Baronne shared two messages on social media, assuring his followers that he’s dedicating each day to the development of Stardew Valley’s mobile version, with the project constantly occupying his thoughts. He pledged to share significant updates, which could include a release date for both projects, and emphasized that there would be no cost for additional content or upgrades to Stardew Valley. However, it’s unclear if this commitment extends to future games.

As a dedicated fan of Stardew Valley, I’ve been thrilled to see Barone’s commitment to delivering regular updates throughout the game’s lifespan. It feels like we’ve gotten a new sequel with all the fresh content. In 2021, there was an exciting announcement about Haunted Chocolatier, Stardew Valley’s unofficial follow-up, but unfortunately, it doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet. During a 2022 interview with Game Informer, Barone shared that he’s working on not one, but two secret projects in addition to Haunted Chocolatier and the ongoing Stardew updates.
