Star Wars: Visions – The Must-Watch Animated Series Every Fan Is Missing

Any diehard fan of the Star Wars universe should check out the innovative animated series within the franchise, titled Star Wars: Visions. While the Star Wars galaxy is immense and its possibilities are endless, the storytelling within the movies, shows, books, and comics can sometimes feel confined. This is because new stories must often conform to established canon and rules derived from the lore.

In contrast to traditional Star Wars productions, Star Wars: Visions, which is exclusively available on Disney+, is a collective project between Lucasfilm and numerous acclaimed animation studios scattered around Japan, the UK, South Korea, Spain, South Africa, Chile, India, and beyond. These studios were given the freedom to express their unique perspectives on what Star Wars might encompass, translating their creative visions onto the screen.

The exceptional 98% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes for Star Wars: Visions truly reflects its worth. This isn’t just another Star Wars, it’s a unique take that redefines the franchise.

Star Wars: Visions Is Unlike Anything Else We’ve Seen

Each animation studio offers a distinctive take on Star Wars’ history, mythology, and world-building. For instance, “The Ninth Jedi” from Visions season 1 showcases lightsabers whose colors reflect the wielder’s alignment and emotional state in the Force. In the episode “Aau’s Song” of season 2, the narrative challenges our existing knowledge about the Force, suggesting that its rhythm and resonance might be influenced and manipulated through singing.

Couldn’t it be imaginable that a lightsaber with two blades, each of a distinct color, exists? And isn’t it tragic to consider scenarios where common folks are compelled by the Empire to mine kyber crystals? In the animated series Star Wars: Visions, the creative potential is boundless. Each short story, imbued with the unique cultural influence of its production studio, presents a stunning, diverse, and irresistibly engaging interpretation of the Star Wars universe.

For quite some time, animation has played a crucial role in the narrative structure of the “Star Wars” universe. Lucasfilm has delved into key stories through various animated series such as “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, “Star Wars: The Bad Batch”, “Star Wars Rebels”, “Star Wars: Resistance”, and the “Tales of the Jedi”, “Empire”, and “Underworld” anthology series.

In a truly imaginative continuation of the captivating storytelling legacy of Star Wars, Visions showcases an astonishing variety of animation styles, ranging from anime to stop-motion and beyond, underscoring the boundless creative potential that the Star Wars universe has to offer.

Star Wars: Visions Season 3 Is Out Later This Year

Some of the studios from season 1, such as Kamikaze Douga, Kinema citrus Co., Production I.G., and TRIGGER, will be continuing their stories. Additionally, a few new Japanese studios are joining us this time around, including ANIMA (working with Kamikaze Douga), david production, Polygon Pictures, Project Studio Q, and WIT Studio.

In the diverse range of stories told in Star Wars: Visions, from unique animation styles to various genres and narrative structures, there’s a short for everyone to connect with deeply.
