Star Wars Prop Worth HOW MUCH?! You Won’t Believe It!

On May 4th, it might seem like a typical day, but come September, a scarcely found artifact from “The Empire Strikes Back” is set to go under the hammer at Propstore, a renowned auction house for entertainment memorabilia. Prepare to dig deep into your pockets, collectors, as this piece of cinematic history could cost you anywhere between $200,000 and $400,000.

The iconic Rebel helmet from the 1980 movie will be auctioned off at Propstore’s Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction in Los Angeles this September. This helmet was used in the film and remains in its original, unrestored state. Notably, this prop was designed by the Oscar-winning costume designer John Mollo, who created costumes for characters such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Princess Leia, and Luke Skywalker.

Custom-Made for The Empire Strikes Back’s Hoth Battle Scene

The helmet being auctioned is one of only two custom-made for ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ (1980) movie, as seen in the epic Hoth battle sequence where Rebel Snowspeeder Pilots prepare to fight Imperial walkers. It has unique characteristics such as a yellow-tinted visor and an interior foam liner tailored specifically to fit. Due to its scarcity, with only two similar helmets known to be held privately, this item is exceptionally rare and highly desired.

Experts predict that the helmet will sell for anywhere between $200,000 and $400,000 at the upcoming auction in September. This will be the first time an authentic helmet has been offered for sale to the public, as it had previously been part of a private collection. The helmet belonged to Patricia Carr, who was an assistant production manager on “The Empire Strikes Back.

One of the Most Sought-After Star Wars Collectibles

Brandon Alinger, COO of Propstore, commented on the exceptional helmet, saying, “Rebel Pilot helmets are highly prized relics from the original Star Wars trilogy. Few authentic helmets remain in private collections, and this one, boasting such a distinguished history, is exceptional. Unlike the numerous Imperial helmets produced for troops like stormtroopers, these helmets were made in very limited quantities and many were discarded at the end of production. The fact that this item survived without restoration and can be traced back to The Empire Strikes Back makes it a rare gem for collectors.

Past Star Wars Props Auctions

In March, following repairs to the necessary accessories, the item was also put up for auction and successfully sold for $378,000.

In September, you’ll have a chance to bid on a Rebel Pilot helmet. If you’re an eager collector with a generous budget, feel free to register on our site to receive notification when the bidding begins.
