Star Wars Outlaws Update Is Making Some PS5 Players Start Over

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say this latest move by Ubisoft leaves me scratching my head. I’ve poured countless hours into games, only to have them reset due to updates is never an enjoyable experience. However, what makes Star Wars Outlaws unique is the fact that those who shelled out extra cash for early access are now being asked to start from scratch.

It seems that Ubisoft is employing a strong tactic to prompt PlayStation 5 players of Star Wars Outlaws, who journey through the stars in a distant galaxy, to restart their adventures. A fresh update for the game, accessible prior to others due to Gold and Ultimate Edition privileges, necessitates a new start unless gamers wish to experience “problems and progression hindrances.”

As per IGN reports, players of Star Wars Outlaws on PS5 are receiving a message about update 1.000.002 pertaining to their game save files. This 8.5GB update is said to resolve bug issues and introduce a 40fps mode, but it seems to be causing trouble for those who have already invested several hours into playing Star Wars Outlaws.

Here’s the message Ubisoft has reportedly sent out:

“To best experience the Outer Rim, we rolled out a maintenance to make sure everyone is playing the latest version of the game. As one of the players affected who had access to an older version of the game, we are aware you might be encountering some issues after this recent patch. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused… Once you’ve confirmed you have the latest version, please start a new save to fully enjoy Star Wars Outlaws as our team intended. If you continue on a prior save you will unfortunately face issues and progression blockers.”

At present, it is exclusively accessible to Gold and Ultimate Edition buyers, with prices of $110 and $130 respectively. PC gamers who subscribe to Ubisoft+ are also entitled to an early access to Star Wars: Outlaw.
