As a dedicated fan of Star Wars and avid gamer, I can’t help but feel a sense of optimism and anticipation towards Ubisoft’s commitment to improving “Star Wars Outlaws.” Having spent countless hours immersed in various gaming worlds, I’ve come to appreciate the efforts developers put into enhancing our experience.
Star Wars Outlaws had a less-than-anticipated debut in late August, but Ubisoft remains committed to the game. The company’s leadership is optimistic that with some improvements in crucial aspects, the game could prosper later in its release cycle. Now, these improvement plans are becoming clearer.
Ubisoft announced they’ve been actively listening to player feedback on the game, have collected suggestions, and are taking steps to make improvements in crucial aspects of it.
The studio has implemented adjustments within the game and aims to further enhance your enjoyment in the future. It’s important to clarify that our top focus is providing you with an outstanding Star Wars gaming experience.
The position of creative director for Outlaws, a game previously led by Julian Gerighty, has been assumed by Drew Rechner, who brings over a decade of experience from Ubisoft to the table. According to Rechner, the team has been attentive to both positive and constructive criticism regarding Star Wars Outlaws.

Ubisoft collects input from various sources such as internal analytics, user tests, reviews, media reactions, crash reports, and more, according to Rechner. He also mentioned that they’ve taken note of feedback posted on platforms like YouTube, Reddit, Discord, and other social media outlets. “Your gaming experience is important to us, and we utilize all available data and comments to identify the challenges you face, what you appreciate, and areas where we can make significant improvements that matter most to you,” Rechner said.
Ubisoft has rolled out three update packages for Star Wars Outlaws, addressing major fan concerns such as bugs and enhancing stealth missions. However, according to Rechner, there are still three key aspects the team intends to improve. The first focus will be on making combat more engaging and tactical, with a goal of rewarding strategic play even more.
The second focus point is covert operations, according to Rechner, which involves enhancing the accuracy and uniformity of enemy identification, as well as providing flexibility in deciding the approach for each confrontation. Moving on, he mentioned that the team is striving to perfect the control interface, encompassing improvements in the dependability of cover, and making jumping and crouching more reactive. Essentially, Rechner explained that Ubisoft aims to make the controls more uniform throughout the gameplay.
According to Rechner, Ubisoft will share further details about these changes, including additional information, within the upcoming weeks. The release date for Title Update 1.4 is set for November 21st. This update coincides with the game’s premiere on Steam and the launch of its initial story expansion, Wild Card.
In a similar vein, “Once more, I want to express my gratitude to our players for their backing and suggestions. We eagerly anticipate that you’ll have a blast delving deeper into the cosmos together with us,” Rechner stated.
Following the release of Star Wars Outlaws in August, Ubisoft announced that the game’s sales fell short of their expectations and mentioned that they will dedicate all resources to enhancing the game.
Initially, it had been decided that Gerighty would transition into the position of executive producer for The Division series following the release of Star Wars Outlaws. Given his significant contributions to kickstarting the franchise, it is now expected that he will rejoin the team for The Division 3.
