As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my disappointment about the upcoming closure of Star Wars Hunters, the thrilling 4v4 shooter game launched by Zynga last year. This free-to-play title brought us fresh characters and pitted them against each other in high-stakes deathmatches, all set within iconic locations from the Star Wars universe. Unfortunately, just under a year since its release, Zynga has announced that Star Wars Hunters will be shutting down this fall.
According to Zynga’s announcement on the official Star Wars Hunters website, the game will receive its last update across all platforms on April 15. After this update, players can continue to play the game until October 1. On October 1, the servers for the game will be turned off, making it impossible to play further. Zynga expressed gratitude to fans for their support and assured that they would remain transparent during the game’s final months.
We realize that this news might be disheartening for you. Rest assured, our decision wasn’t taken casually. Your enthusiasm and devotion towards the game and its community has always left an indelible impact on us. We are dedicated to keeping you informed and visible during this period of transition.
Despite the closure of the game, it’s been clarified by Zynga that crystal purchases won’t be refunded. This is because the 30-day notice provided is intended to give players ample time to use their currency before all in-game transactions are deactivated on April 15.
In simple terms, Star Wars Hunters Season 5 is getting a three-week extension! This means Zynga will repeat some past events and shop deals. The ranking season is being extended too, giving more gamers a chance to reach the Kyber 1 rank. The final update on April 15th will include a new free support hunter named Tuya, along with one last competitive mode for players to battle it out in.
In reference to the latest Star Wars console title, Star Wars Outlaws, it encountered some difficulties that necessitated multiple updates from Ubisoft to enhance its gameplay. Contrarily, the upcoming Star Wars Eclipse in the series is said to be unscathed by the recent job cuts at NetEase.
