Fan favorites from past Star Trek shows will be reappearing in the new Paramount+ series, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
Who else has joined the cast of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds?
Thomas Jane will be joining the cast as Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy in the new series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. New actor Kai Murakami will play Hikaru Sulu. Both Jane and Murakami will first appear in the final episode of the show’s fifth season, which has just finished filming and will be the last season.
Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy is a memorable character from Star Trek, originally played by DeForest Kelley in the original series, and later by Karl Urban in the newer films. Similarly, Hikaru Sulu was portrayed by George Takei in the original Star Trek, and by John Cho in the rebooted movies.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds debuted in 2022 and was created by Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman, and Jenny Lumet. As a spin-off of the 2017 series Star Trek: Discovery, the show features Captain Christopher Pike (played by Anson Mount) and his crew aboard the Enterprise, taking place ten years before the events of the original Star Trek.
You can currently watch the first three seasons of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds on Paramount+. Season four is coming in 2026, and a shorter, six-episode season five is planned to follow sometime after that.
