‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ Casts ‘Bob Hearts Abishola’ Creator Gina Yashere as Instructor

The announcement that Holly Hunter will be leading the show as both the captain and chancellor of Starfleet Academy is simply thrilling. Yashere played a significant role in creating and overseeing the production of the CBS sitcom “Bob Hearts Abishola,” which ran for five seasons. Her television career took off in the U.S., starting as a finalist on “Last Comic Standing.” She has also made appearances as a comedian on shows like “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah,” “Def Comedy Jam,” “Live at the Apollo,” and “The Tonight Show.” Additionally, she has acted in various other productions, including “The Neighborhood,” “Crashing,” and “The Barbarian and the Troll.”

Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau serve as co-showrunners and executive producers on the new series “Starfleet Academy.” Gaia Violo penned the first episode in her role as executive producer. Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Jenny Lumet, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Frank Siracusa, and John Weber are also involved as executive producers. The production of “Starfleet Academy” is handled by CBS Studios, in collaboration with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Paramount Global Content Distribution handles its distribution.
