In this role, she’ll bring her unique charm to life as one of the instructors at a renowned educational institution.
As a longtime fan of Star Trek and someone who has followed the franchise through thick and thin, I can hardly contain my excitement about the latest addition to the series! The announcement that Holly Hunter will be leading the show as both the captain and chancellor of Starfleet Academy is simply thrilling. Her talent and experience are unquestionable, and I’m confident she’ll bring a depth and nuance to the role that will captivate audiences.
The show follows a band of ambitious cadets on their journey towards realizing a shared dream of positivity and progress. As they grow under the stern guidance of their trainers, they uncover the challenges required to earn Starfleet officer status. Along the way, they forge new friendships, encounter fierce rivalries, experience first romances, and face a dangerous adversary that endangers not only the academy but also the Federation.
Later this summer, production is set to start on the series. Fans have something exciting to look forward to, as they’ll get a sneak peek of the show during San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday.
Yashere played a significant role in creating and overseeing the production of the CBS sitcom “Bob Hearts Abishola,” which ran for five seasons. Her television career took off in the U.S., starting as a finalist on “Last Comic Standing.” She has also made appearances as a comedian on shows like “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah,” “Def Comedy Jam,” “Live at the Apollo,” and “The Tonight Show.” Additionally, she has acted in various other productions, including “The Neighborhood,” “Crashing,” and “The Barbarian and the Troll.”
Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau serve as co-showrunners and executive producers on the new series “Starfleet Academy.” Gaia Violo penned the first episode in her role as executive producer. Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Jenny Lumet, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Frank Siracusa, and John Weber are also involved as executive producers. The production of “Starfleet Academy” is handled by CBS Studios, in collaboration with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Paramount Global Content Distribution handles its distribution.
