‘Star Trek’: ‘Section 31’ Film Gets Release Date, Rhys Darby to Guest Star on ‘Strange New Worlds’

As a seasoned movie buff who has spent countless hours traversing the vast cosmos of sci-fi television, I must say, the latest updates from the Star Trek Universe have me absolutely thrilled! The anticipation for “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” Season 3 and “Star Trek: Lower Decks” Season 5 is reaching new heights with each new reveal.


At the “Star Trek Universe” panel during New York Comic Con on Saturday, we got our first glimpses at Season 3 of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” and the concluding Season 5 of “Star Trek: Lower Decks”. The panel even showed the season premiere episode of the animated series for all the excited fans.

Section 31,” will premiere on Paramount+ on January 24, and it was discussed by cast members, producers, and directors during a panel event. Michelle Yeoh, reprising her role from “Star Trek: Discovery,” joined the discussion via video call.

In a recent gathering, Ethan Peck and Carol Kane, stars of “Strange New Worlds”, joined executive producers Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers to talk about the upcoming third season of the series. This season will continue the escapades of the USS Enterprise during Captain Christopher Pike’s (Anson Mount) tenure as commander. They revealed that Rhys Darby, known for his role in “Our Flag Means Death”, will make a guest appearance in Season 3.

In addition, the “Strange New Worlds” crew unveiled a sneak peek from the first episode of Season 3, which resumes right after the nail-biting finale of Season 2 where Captain Pike finds himself engaged in a perilous fight against the formidable aliens known as the Gorn. The new season is scheduled to air in 2025.

As a follower, I was thrilled to unveil a hidden panel, revealing a delightful surprise: the Season 5 premiere of “Lower Decks”! This was followed by a captivating panel discussion with stars Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, and Eugene Cordero, as well as executive producer Mike McMahan. To add to the excitement, Paramount+ unveiled a sneak peek clip from the upcoming season, showcasing the crew of the USS Cerritos encountering an alternate version of their ship, helmed by none other than Capt. Becky Mariner (Newsome).

Season 5 of “Lower Decks” will premiere on Paramount+ with two episodes on Oct. 24.
