Star Trek Prodigy Creators Want To Continue Show In Live-Action Or As A Movie

As a devoted Trekkie who has witnessed the evolution of Starfleet across generations, I must say that Star Trek Prodigy has truly captivated my heart. With its unique blend of youthful exuberance and timeless Star Trek wisdom, it’s like watching a new generation of officers grow up right before our eyes.

Star Trek: Prodigy has experienced an intriguing journey, initially airing on Paramount+, then getting cancelled, and subsequently returning on Netflix soon after. The second season debuted in its entirety this past July, with a total of 20 episodes. This series revolves around a band of young extraterrestrials, under the guidance of Admiral Kathryn Janeway (played by Kate Mulgrew reprising her character from Star Trek: Voyager), who are on a quest to locate the original crew of the USS Protostar.

Although the third season of the show has yet to be officially announced, actress Soneela Mulgrew remains optimistic. In the event that the show isn’t renewed, discussions are already taking place about potentially transitioning the series into live-action format or even a potential movie in the future.

Executive Producer Kevin Hageman expressed to TopMob at Comic-Con that he hopes these characters will mature alongside the audience, eventually becoming seasoned Starfleet officers as adults.

Dan Hageman, executive producer shared that he prefers live-action films but is also open to both animated and any other type of movie. He mentioned, “We truly cherish the show.”

Brett Gray, the actor portraying alien Dal, shared that he’s prepared to take on the role in a live-action setting. He simply stated, “Someone just asked me to do it.”

Actress Kate Mulgrew, who was once part of the Star Trek family, has previously performed her character in both live-action and animated formats. She expressed that the animation used in the show touched her deeply.

As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but express my deep admiration for this game. It might sound overly enthusiastic to some, but trust me, I’m anything but gushing. The idea behind it was already intriguing, and when I saw the animation, I was blown away by its exceptional quality. The stories are, in my opinion, unmatched. Maybe that’s because it’s not a straight-up Star Trek spin-off; instead, it allows for learning and growth among all characters. What makes it even more captivating is the intergenerational connection – mothers watching their daughters play, who in turn watched me on Voyager, sitting next to grandmothers who were fans of Patrick Stewart. It’s a beautiful cycle of fandom passing down through the generations.

Beyond the realm of Star Trek series such as Prodigy, Lower Decks, and Strange New Worlds, there’s news about an upcoming prequel film being developed, with Toby Haynes (known for Andor and Black Mirror) at the helm as director.
