Star Citizen’s anti cheat error 30033 is frustrating players. CIG is investigating

Cloud Imperium Games continues to expand Star Citizen. Alpha 4.0.2, released on February 28th, introduced new features, improvements, new ships, and locations, along with the launch of the ‘Supply or Die’ event. But, just like the 4.0 release – where error code 2000 stopped players from even installing the game – this update hasn’t gone as smoothly as it should have. Now, error 30033 from the anti-cheat system is stirring up a lot of frustration.

CIG’s new update brings hype and headaches

A group of gamers returned to Star Citizen for the recent event, but found themselves unexpectedly disconnected with an anti-cheat warning. If this happened to you, don’t panic – it doesn’t mean you’re a cheater or banned! Instead, it seems to be a glitch from the latest update that’s causing trouble.

Reddit user FrankCarnax issued a cautionary message to fellow gamers, informing them of a situation. Some players were reassured as they learned they weren’t at fault, while others faced unfortunate consequences – they had invested numerous hours into the game only to lose their progress and currently cannot re-access it.

CIG quickly put out a post on the community hub, saying:

At the moment, we’re looking into problems related to our AntiCheat system. As soon as we gather more information, we’ll share an update with you through this broadcast.

Some individuals have successfully returned to the game, yet it remains uncertain whether the problem has truly been resolved. Until we receive a formal announcement, let’s stay vigilant. Here’s hoping that Cloud Imperium Games decides to extend the ‘Supply or Die’ event as compensation for the chaos.

We can only cross our fingers that CIG doesn’t get too wrapped up with Squadron 42 to address this issue promptly. They raised a substantial amount through crowdfunding in 2024, so let’s hope they won’t keep fans waiting indefinitely.
