Stallone and De Niro’s ‘Cop Land’ Set to Return as TV Series!

Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro are two actors who have earned the title of Hollywood legends, joining an exclusive group in this category. They’ve navigated various film genres, but they truly shine and feel most comfortable when it comes to action roles. From intense dramas like Heat to the raw power of Rambo, they’ve been at the helm of some truly iconic films.

On just two separate projects have these two actors collaborated so far; prior rumors of a disagreement between Stallone and De Niro needed to be debunked. Their most recent joint venture was “Grudge Match,” released in 2013 as a sports comedy, which playfully referenced their iconic roles in “Rocky” and “Raging Bull.” Another movie they worked on together in the ’90s, a successful box office hit, is being considered for a television adaptation.

Cop Land Could Be Coming To The Small Screen

It’s Among Several Potential Projects At Miramax

As a passionate cinephile, I’d say that in August 1997, I had the pleasure of watching “Cop Land,” a gripping crime thriller starring none other than Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro. This was their first joint appearance on the silver screen, under the skilled direction of James Mangold. The plot unfolds around a sheriff from a quaint New Jersey town who finds himself at odds with a group of corrupt cops hailing from the bustling metropolis of New York City. An impressive ensemble cast, featuring the likes of Harvey Keitel, Peter Berg, Janeane Garofalo, Robert Patrick, Michael Rapaport, Annabella Sciorra, Noah Emmerich, and Cathy Moriarty, brought this story to life. “Cop Land” was warmly received by critics and grossed an impressive $67.3 million at the box office, outperforming its budget of just $15 million.

According to Variety, it appears that Miramax is developing a TV adaptation of the film “Cop Land,” with Mangold potentially involved in the project. This news is just one piece of a larger story about Miramax’s efforts to regain its position as a major player in the industry, under the leadership of new CEO Jonathan Glickman. At present, there’s no additional information available about this potential “Cop Land” series.

It seems that “Cop Land” isn’t the only movie being considered for a television adaptation; other possibilities include “Gangs of New York”, the romantic drama “Chocolat”, and the critically acclaimed film “The Holdovers”. At this point, all of them appear to be in their preliminary stages.

More to come…
