Stalker 2 PS5 Release May Be Sooner Than You Think

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt and a particular fondness for the Stalker series, I must admit that the ongoing saga surrounding Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl has been a rollercoaster ride. The initial announcement of the game’s exclusivity to PC and Xbox left me feeling a tad disheartened as a PlayStation gamer. But then came the glimmer of hope, the suggestion that the PS5 version might yet see the light of day.

The game series known as Stalker comes in various styles. One is brighter and more Western-influenced, while the other is darker and more melancholic, frequently incorporating elements of the Chernobyl disaster. This setting is also the basis for the Stalker series. Given that the GSC Game World studio, primarily based in Ukraine, where a war is currently ongoing, it’s not surprising there are delays in the release of the sequel to this series, titled Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl. Although the game has been announced for PC and Xbox platforms only, there’s a glimmer of optimism suggesting that a PlayStation version might eventually materialize as well.

Stalker 2 PS5 release explained

The original statement was that Stalker 2 Heart of Chernobyl would not launch on PS5 at all. However, this appears to be due to an exclusive deal GSC made with Microsoft. But it was found out that this exclusivity agreement will last only for three months. This doesn’t necessarily mean that we can anticipate the PS5 version of Stalker 2 as early as the beginning of 2025. It could still be later than that.

Despite PlayStation dominating the modern console market, that doesn’t necessarily mean the game will be released on that platform immediately. Given the setting of the title in eastern Europe, it tends to cater more towards audiences familiar with the region’s culture. In this part of the world, PC remains quite popular as a device.

Although the PS5 version of Stalker 2 isn’t immediately forthcoming, it’s reasonable to anticipate that the developers at GSC will eventually work on porting the game to PlayStation 5. It’s likely that this won’t happen until after the game has officially launched, which we hope will be a significant success given the numerous delays it has encountered.

Here’s hoping GSC stays true to their word. Can’t contain your excitement? Take a look at the latest 30-minute gameplay video if you’re eagerly anticipating it.
