As a long-time fan of the Stalker series, I’ve been through my fair share of radioactive wastelands and mutated monsters. The release of Stalker 2 was a dream come true, but the bugs and glitches have made it feel more like a nightmarish expedition than an immersive experience. The On the Edge bug, in particular, has been a thorn in my side, preventing me from completing missions and progressing in the game.
The version 1.0.2 update for Stalker 2 is now active, focusing largely on resolving issues within missions such as the ‘On the Edge’ glitch that halted progression.
Ever since its debut, gamers playing Stalker 2 have found themselves engaged in combat against more than just in-game adversaries as they traverse the Zone. Despite the positive reviews and the rollout of Patch 1.0.1 for PC and Xbox on November 29, the game has been persistently hampered by various bugs during play.
Despite the update being released, users continued to experience errors that hindered their progress in missions. One particularly vexing issue in Stalker 2, known as the “On the Edge” bug, failed to produce the anticipated Monolith enemies. This malfunction prevented players from fulfilling certain objectives.
Thankfully, developer GSC Game World has rectified this issue, along with some others, enabling players to complete earlier problematic missions like “Just Like the Past” and “Truth’s Visions”, thanks to Patch 1.0.2.
Stalker 2 Update 1.0.2 tackles On the Edge bug and more
The update version 1.0.2 was launched on PCs at the beginning of November 30th, while the Xbox version is scheduled to get the update later in the same day.
The full patch notes read as follows (via Steam):
- Fixed an issue when the second wave of Monolith soldiers would not spawn during the “On the Edge” mission, blocking further progression.
- Fixed the issue when Richter could be found dead during the “A Minor Incident” mission, blocking further progression.
- The fixed issue was a player could get stuck after installing the fuse in the Wild Island area if they got the Emitter from Faust’s Cell first during the “Just Like the Good Old Days” mission, blocking further progression.
- The fixed issue was when a player could not successfully complete the “All That is Left” mission while exploring the Chemical Plant region.
- Fixed issue when quest enemies could spawn in unreachable areas for a player during the “Down Below” mission, blocking further progression.
- Fixed an issue when Scar could be missing during the “Visions of Truth” mission.
- A few more EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION errors are fixed.
