STALKER 2 Devs Lift Ban on Steam User Who Accused Them of Lying in Official System Requirements

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the recent turn of events surrounding S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has left me both amused and perplexed. The ban of a forum user for voicing concerns about system requirements seems a tad excessive, especially when considering the nuanced nature of gaming hardware and software compatibility.

Just prior to the launch of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, there was a bit of disarray within the game’s online community. The source of this stir was the suspension of a Steam forum user due to a comment about the game’s technical specifications.

Ban out of nowhere…

The situation was brought to light, among other places, on the /pcgaming subreddit. In the published post, we can find a screenshot with information about receiving a ban for a post posted on the discussion forum for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on Steam. The entry referred to the system requirements, which – in the opinion of the message’s author – misled the players.

He noted that reaching the frame rates per second (FPS) as suggested by the developers might necessitate the application of upscaling technology like DLSS, a detail not disclosed in the official information but shared exclusively on the series’ Discord server. Consequently, he suspects that the studio has been deceptive towards the players and doubts the game will perform optimally at the stated native resolutions without using this technology.

Immediately following their post, the user encountered a ban from the forum due to disseminating misleading facts concerning the company. Some participants suggested that the actual cause behind the ban was not just bringing attention to the matter, but labeling the developers as dishonest and accusing them of intending to “defraud funds.

…and a quick unban

Thankfully, the situation was swiftly rectified due to the intervention from GSC Game World. They acknowledged the misunderstanding and clarified that the ban was unjustly given by one of their moderators, but it has since been revoked. Unfortunately, they did not directly address the main point raised in the original post.

Dear Friends, I’m truly apologetic for the predicament at hand. It appears our newly appointed moderator has inadvertently issued a ban, due to an oversight regarding this specific topic. Although we have recently expanded our team of moderators to assist us, this doesn’t alleviate our responsibility.

We have removed the ban already.

As a gamer, I noticed something intriguing while checking out the game on Steam – there’s info about upscaling in the system requirements section. However, it’s not mentioned in the recent official post. It makes me wonder if the developers updated the page on the Valve store after they published their post.

Presentation of artifacts

It’s noteworthy that a post on Steam has been made about artifacts found within the Zone. These highly valuable items can either be sold or utilized by us. The game will feature numerous such artifacts, with some already revealed by the developers.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is set to launch on November 20th, simultaneously for PC and Xbox Series X/S platforms. On its release date, the game will also be accessible through the Game Pass subscription service.
